Hello,
What are your thoughts on this 1987 P Dime? Specifically the "textured" fields and the mint mark. The texture appears "under" the devices and extends from the center outward in all directions. The texture itself is made up of parallel lines- one is right by the mint mark which makes this an "R" dime! Cool, I know. There is also a circular mark visible through liberty. This marks the edge of a very slightly raised bump on the obverse- as though it were pressed by a smaller diameter object. Comments are appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Got this in change today. Looks like its missing clad. It weighs 5.7 grams. Any ideas? Worth anything beyond a couple bucks?

I started collecting a little over a year ago and have no idea what I am doing. I thought those lines were good because they came from the mint like that. Sorry if my unattractive coin wasted your time. It took me a long time to make those pics because that is what I thought I was supposed to do. Thanks for the "constructive criticism" everyone. can't wait to post on again here.

Hello,
Can anyone confirm that this is a spike head penny from 1973? Uncollectable condition?

Sorry, tried to use the same name on the pics. I know it says not to... now. Easy to overlook with all the text. Topic updated.

Anyone wanna take a swing at this? On the obverse it looks like there is an impression on Mr. Lincoln's cheek. Do you see it? Strike through? On the reverse the roof appears floating. Does this count? Also, there are some sharp step-like notches on the side of the "A". Does anyone know what that is all about? I am 90% certain its not PMD- its too "perfect" looking. Thanks for looking.

Thanks for all the comments. I have one in better shape, so I am going to work out the lighting issue, get full size pics and some closer shots of the rim. Let me know if you have any other uploading suggestions. @Badthar: I'm actually looking into storage options now. I got these from my neighbor who kept them in rolls. I've got some knock off Air Tight containers but I'm afraid the coins will bounce around too much. I'm kinda thinking about placing some paper tissue in there if I send any off to grade? Or cutting up some other packing materials to fit.

Good day Numatists,
Thanks for taking a look at this 1969 S Lincoln. Currently this is probably the best looking coin in my collection. Please feel free to leave some remarks if you have any. I don't know much about grading other than "scratches are bad" and "Red mint luster is good".

A lot of people on here recommended the book "Strike it Rich with Pocket Change" by Ken Potter and Brian Allen, so I picked up a copy and all I can say is that it's either flawed or I have an "error book". Anyone else notice some problems with it?

This reminds me of one I found that turned out to have been "recoated" or whatever its called. Super shiny is a dead giveaway.

I was looking for DD on this coin when I noticed reverse font looks like the 1988 reverse. I will try to explain the best I can.

See:
-Wider AM
-Thin lettering
-Mild FG serif
-Top line of "E" in "ONE" is square.

What do you think?

So they basically ruined the coin... lame. Well, ya gotta learn somehow. I assume even if I could "un-plate" it, the value is toast. Thanks for all the input. May your good deeds bring you many treasures!

Howdy,
I noticed three things on this steel cent. Please tell me what you think. First, there appears to be a die crack along the bottom. Correct? Second, something is hiding behind the 3 in 1943. DD? And lastly, is that mint mark normal? The coin is in pretty great shape, so I don't think its PMD. Thanks for taking a look. Have a great day.

Take a look at this 1960 D Lincoln. The edge on the right side of the memorial roof has more material than the other. A little material seems missing from above this area. Any ideas? There is also a round indent toward the center. Not sure if its related.

Or is this just a grease filled or maybe a weak strike? Its really flat with rounded edges. Almost smooth, but then there is what appears to be doubling, maybe?
