I missed you posting that seated dollar. Nice coin, I am sure it looks very good in your set.

You got me thinking about getting my type set out of the bank box
and see if I can upgrade something.

I always thought the half cent was used to make change. When the Spanish real
was legal tender, one real was worth 12 1/2 cents.

Of course items could have been priced down to the half cent.
Example - five pounds of flour at five and one half cents.

GR58, it is good to hear from you!

thanks Jbuck ... I see your post count is way up

I am not on here as much as I use to .. since my father
passed away .. not as much into coins.

But with the price of gold and silver up .. I just had to
sort thru my collection. I had no idea my collection was/is
worth as much as it is. Just sorting thru the coins I am not
in love with, and selling them, has netted me about 25k.
Really had no idea.

Of course, now I am thinking of putting some of that into
my Type set .. and my Morgan collection. But I will sort thru
more if these prices hold, or go up more .. and will sell more.

I have sold some coins, in pretty much all the big spikes since 1980.
Just start buying back when prices go back down.

Congrats on the retirement fistfulladirt

Sorry to hear about the health insurance ... I guess it happens to us that
retire early. Or what some consider early.

—————————————————-

I have been enjoying the rise in gold and silver prices. Selling a good amount
and moving the money to more stable investments.

BTW ... I did smile when selling stacks of gold coins that I had bought.
Coins that a few people on this site said I was wrong for buying non slabbed
gold coins. Sold around 50 gold coins with no problem, and very good profit.

Morgan's dad .... congrats .... nice profit...

Mine was sitting here ..in the shipping box .. for the last couple days.

Put it on EBay this morning for "Buy it now" $1250.00. Sold in 20 minutes.

Guess I should have asked a little more ...

But I am happy. After buying the coin, EBay fees, PayPal fees and shipping
to buyer, cleared about $1000.00

Good to hear your still working on your quarters

It was interesting to read this old post.
For my progress, I see I was at 8500 quarters then,
now I have over 13,000 quarters.

Most of your gold coins are going to be worth
near the bullion value.

Not exact numbers .. but close.
$5.00 gold 1/4 ounce
$10.00 gold 1/2 ounce
$20.00 gold 1 ounce

A dealer might pay a percentage back
of the gold value.

If it was just the holder ..
All the 1970 sets would be that way.

I would put it mostly on the Humidity and temputure.

And as Jbuck posted .. the holder is not sealed.

Looks like a Roman Constantine ancient coin.

Ask to have this moved to the ancient
coin section, and you should get some replies.
