Let us know how you get on with Coincraft - it's probably the only UK coin price guide / reference book I've read cover to cover (!)

There is a similar coincraft (but harder to find) for Scottish, Irish, Channel Islands and Isle of Man.

Coincraft's Standard Catalogue of English and UK Coins, 1066 to Date (2000)
published 1999/2000.

If the weight is correct I would imagine this is a Shahi, the unfortunate hole and mount marks having reduced the weight from around 1.15g. These are quite scarce coins.

These are not your coin type, but the legends look similar,

This is from Iran, Tehran mint I think from the time of the Qajar dynasty.
can you check the weight / size I think something might be off.

Weird auctions like that can be a simple way of money laundering, some overseas buyer buys something worthless then "pays for it" - thus transferring the money from abroad.. for a legitimate reason.
