I'm up to 16 !!! AND I found the Somoa Bat !!! I have complained plenty about the dry spells but in about 9 months I have found all 10 coins !!!

I have been super busy at work so my daily searches have turned into 2 or 3 a week . I had 2 occasions that I found 2 W coins in a 120 dollar lot ( 12 rolls ). I have found some more S business stuff also , I love finding those but nothing really matches the rush of a " W " , lol.

I have been looking hard at the Hawaiian Women's obverse for the die clash , I have seen photo examples so subtle that I'm sure I would miss them. And every Wisconsin State quarter I come across gets more of my time than it should , lol.

I'm an odd one I guess , I use my main bank for both . I get new rolls ( fed - armored car ) and re - wrap when I'm done . I'm ok with them for about 150 per day ( quarters ) . If I do happen to get customer wrapped I know not to get ones with crimped ends as I'm sure I'm the only customer that does this . One of the tellers hooked me up with a bunch of customer wrapped nickels from an estate clean out of some sort. Someone had gotten the war nickels from them but left alot of other Jefferson goodies.

There is another local bank that is also cool for dealing with 150 or so ( quarters ). They have a coinstar machine and will pay me with new rolls . I don't have an account there but I have spoke to the manager and if I open an account she would be able to order boxes for me ( I really need to get on board with them but work has been hammering me this year ).

Finally found my first Eleanor Roosevelt quarter

I found my first one 2 days ago in the middle of a bank roll , and it was only 1 coin in the 30 rolls I had picked up.

I have had some ok luck recently , I'm up to 12 . I've averaged about 3-400 dollars searched for 1 W minted coin.

I found an AMP ( on my birthday actually ). 2 Weir Farm and 1 Marsh Billings . The only one that I have not found is Soma . It's strange that Ebay listings for the Soma Bat are pretty reasonable but Memorial Park is always priced high .

( I'm not using any resource here other than practical experience from installing miles of copper tubing . )

In the first reverse photo the 2 coins actually flowed together somewhat , but not quite enough to destroy every device on the " main " coin . The surface was flat and the metal relaxed to that surface. I'm guessing somewhere in the neighborhood of 1500 - 1600 degrees , red hot but not liquid . Just after that the " cud " coin was folded , the date is barely in tact because there is a bit more material there. An acetylene - air torch and a flat piece of steel could accomplish this in a minute .

That's my swing at this . The next question is " why would someone do this " ? My guess on that would be beer , youth , both , lol.

I have found 2 business S mint coins recently. The first was Saturday 2016 Harpers Ferry ( 1,050,185 ) . Today it was a 2012 New Mexico ( 1,389,020 ). Maybe my luck hasn't been that bad after all , I had not looked at the mintage figures until I saw this thread.

I modified this popular document stapler with a band saw. It sets staples really flat with ease.

Found this in a roll of quarters--early 2015

That is an awesome find !!! I have found a couple of really nice 1970's quarters in rolls recently .

My top score recently was a 1945 S War Nickel ( AU - BU ) and a 1963 Washington Quarter ( AU - BU ) in the same week ( I've posted pics in the roll hunting threads ).

My biggest score ( almost ) was when I was a teenager working at a convenience store in the mid - 1980's. A little kid came in a bought a bunch of junk food and soda and paid with seated liberty halves and quarters ( that looked new ). I stashed them in the register and started thinking about all of the cool stuff I could get when I sold them , lol. The kids dad came in a couple of hours later he looked " ill " . He asked me if I had seen any odd coinage and I honestly felt bad for the guy and gave him everything back. He gave me 10 bucks as a reward ( I appreciated that ) , but man I always think that I should have kept 1 of those back , lol.

I have bought quite a bit from EB and most has been a good deal ( I believe ) , knock on wood. I have had a couple of items that aren't quite as nice as I first thought but still fair for the price I paid. And a few items that I feel I won huge on .

One thing I have started doing is looking at a sellers other items . If all of the other stuff looks correct I get a better feeling about the purchase.

I am up to 8 now ( 6 different coins ). I purchased the remaining ones so I could have a complete set of 10. I was not able to find a reasonably priced AMP but I made out really good on a couple of other purchases . I found a nice AMP and overpaid a bit for it , I'll make it up somewhere down the line ( hopefully find 1 !!! ) .

I feel for those who can't get stuff from banks. I would start a commercial account if I was having that problem. One teller started to pull that on me at our bank but my wife has a business account so I had her go straighten them out.

Lately I've been searching about 6-800 dollars in quarters each week. Last week I found 2 W ( same day ) but I have hit a dry spell since. I'll just keep digging and I know 1 will pop up when I least expect it.

I search about 20 - 30 rolls of nickels each week and there are still alot of 64 and 64D out in the wild ( not as nice as the one in the OP ).

Mine showed up today also ( PDS AWQ ). I placed it in the cabinet with the other white boxes ( smh coin collecting in 2023 ). The luck I've been having lately mine probably has 3 P rolls with every 3rd coin in each roll being a penny ( or a mangled 1965 in the shape of an octagon ) .

I'd prefer to have a few ounces of gold or a few hundred ounces of silver instead of a ton of copper.

A few months ago I was working on a project removing a fair amount of large copper piping ( 2 - 300 lbs can't remember exactly) . I cashed it in and bought a complete set of silver proof state quarters and some other items. I am happier with the quarters than the scrap pipe for sure !!!

I find plenty of banged up stuff in " Federal " rolls also. And not to mention a penny or a nickel stuck in the middle of a roll of quarters ( that happens too often ).

The first one I opened was solid 2023-P, the other was solid 1982-D... all BU... I am not sure why 1982, it was just a dream after all, but being uncirculated and Denver mint was most impressive to me.

I just sifted through 15 rolls of quarters and was getting started on the 10 rolls of nickels . I opened the first roll and out came all brand new 2022 P . I through them all into a formed wrapper ( N.F. String , I re - roll and crimp as part of my routine ). At that point I knew what I would find when I went and looked at the ends of the other 9 rolls , lol. All 2022 P ( smh ).
