@Spence Here it is, not much. I'll be calling my friend at the paper to see if contact can be arranged, its a 4 year old story.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I will update anything I find.

This item came across my feed as a local news story describing the piece as a coin. Thus my interest. However I do see with opening the story that it has a loop for a medallion.

So not a coin, But what an odd piece It was the only pic with the news story. But it is a small town so I will dig deeper.
Any thoughts as to what it is?

I am thinking it is still a clipped planchet, but the pics on the coin site have them copletely clipped.
"But it also looks nothing like a incomplete photo example.

Advice appreciated.

I'll do some side by sides, though I am not sure it will show anything relevant.

How it fits on another penny is a large part of it is why I posted pics of it over the other coin. In my defense I did write in that post that they were pics of it paired with another coin. lol

I posted pics of both sides of the "coin" and the edge in my first posting of this, the first 3 pics are the 3 you requested.

Sorry, was not trying to be confusing. I tried to write details of the pics I was posting each time.

I just cannot find much on these coins, not many for sale. That either means there a LOT of them, or very few. Wishful thinking. Just strange not to find much on these coins.

@john100

Yes, the "coin" is just the queen with the reversed side.

It weighs 0.84g

Here are some more photos of it paired with a whole coin. It barely covers the real penny.

Really too dangerous as a toy, would be sharp. Given the queen on it toy safety was on some level a thing.

If the "coin" covered the other penny, or looked like it even possibly connected to another piece at any time I would have just tossed the "coin" But it is just weird enough, and my knowledge is just low enough to at least negate any value. lol Can you imagine a few years later seeing one just like it sell for $$$, Hahahaha!!!!
I really cannot think of any use for this, maybe I just do not have a good enough imagination to think of what this is.

Just odd....

So I got this coin in a roll. I did post in a fakebook group but that was actually inconclusive, but I weighed on the side of its not anything.
I would think magicians coin if it looked like it connected to a second piece I was not in position of.

As you can see from the pic of the piece on another penny is only wraps half way on one side, and just touches the other side of the coin it is resting on. There is no way this completes a fake coin. Might still be fake, but not a hollow coin trick.

Now in a perfect world this would be a cladding that just did not take. But I figure it is just something I am not aware of, a gag of some sort for an unknown reason?

Or is it something? LOL

@JimmyD

I had only one light defuser ( piece of A4 over the lights.) This is a much different coin but this is with a second sheet of white paper over the lights.

Been taking some poor quality pics lately, sorry for that. I worked all night last night researching, I had no idea this would be two hobbies, lol

I would appreciate some feed back on these updated photos.

I am in Northern BC, but we had 14000 US troops stationed in our town here during the war, so there must be a few kicking around in jars. lol,
