I have a 1971 s I can't tell if it's a proof or business strike in hand it has a different type of shine or just in better condition than some I'm comparing to. It also has notching which looks kind of doubled or damaged. I'll take it out of the holder and get better pictures.
I see what you mean it's there on the other side of the y but I can't really get a decent picture. Also the thickness of the 9 stays the same width compared to the others and the ends are blunt not pointed. Hard to tell though through pictures
1977 Denver mint I thought this was MD but it's clear also has split serifs. I can't really find any comparisons. Could this be MD with splits on top of the devices?
I have a lot of those it seems they like to put those in the do it yourself holders. I have a few sets and they are in there with proof coins I guess the color of real ones would not match the other coins in the sets. I agree though it's such a waste but I don't know what would be better that or rusty coins
Actually the hair on closer look is from a cotton swab, it just happened to be next to the mark that looks like hair. No worries though but I think my coin was struck through hair, it is raised on the coin.
If I sent it in with a hair on it they would have taken it off. I would have also it's a fresh hair the pictures must be after it was slabbed. The other end of the hair looks like it would blow in the wind.
I know it's just kind of funny aren't they supposed to have a quality check before it leaves. What do I do in this case just send it back with another form. I don't think the hair would damage it but you never know what kind of shampoo the person uses. What if it's none would that be worse? None is probably better
I took a closer look at one of my coins and noticed a hair inside. I thought it was a strike through but the hair is loose on the other side of the coin it looks like a white one. Do I keep it or send it back to get the hair out or?
*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***
Could this have both characteristics I noticed the mint mark first and assumed MD but the date looks the same. Again not the best pictures but they look the same in some areas
