Clear this up to everyone crying saying he cleaned it and the one special guy who thinks it's counterfeit. It was never buried, found in a runoff in the oldest park in Omaha, NE. It had rained 10 inches in 30 hours and only had surface mud. So what're you're seeing is almost exactly how it was found. I don't wanna hear anyone's opinion cause there is no opinion to be had. It was found almost exactly like you see. Go watch videos of silver coin enviro finds. There are tons of videos of coins absolutely buried in dirt and coming out almost identical. I don't think this coin was ever under earth, and rather lived most of its life in the runoff. Which again was mostly pea gravel, rocks and boulders. Thanks to everyone who congratulated the find. To those who have their own opinions, good thing it's not even your coin. At the end of the day it's still a dime that was found on the ground.
He FaceTimed me still there and is sitting on the bench on the trail. The entire area had freshly washed out after multiple storms, and flooding. In a washout peeking out of mud. He wiped off the wet mud (which I told him was a mistake) and then got it under water. Other than that it was not cleaned. That area has had 8 feet of water thru it over the last week
Unbelievable surface find by my friend near a known old homestead in eastern Nebraska. After lots of rain lately it was in a washout along with some old gardening tools. Insane condition. Wonder who from New Orleans back in the day made their way all the way up to Nebraska. Cool to think about.
So after I had found the UFO from 2023 I went thru the roll I had gotten them from which included a cent I had already posted with pre strike post plating damage. It also contains the same error from the 2017 UFO. Below is the post containing information on the planchet damage. https://goccf.com/t/460560
I noticed this today on a 23' shield that has the bar extending past the ribbon. I know I had seen this listed for another year but unsure if this year is or not.
I had this beat to crap 99' that for some reason caught my eye around the mint and I keep seeing an S or what should have been or possibly a very light mark? Or simply just coincidental damage or just good ole pareidolia? I don't think I'm just seeing the S, or at least I hope haha.
I don't see any listings for 1974 but it looks exactly like the listings from 1946 as far as being inverted. Compared to all my other 74's that are just as damaged, it doesn't seem that's the case.
I do know that and I did state that in the post and even title in my defense. A lot of doubled dies listed usually have some similarities, from what I've seen. But the differences are what makes a new listing obviously
So I posted this a while back with not so good photos. It seems to have a lot of similarities to DDO-001 on VV but can't say it's a match. But curious if it's possibly a new find. The spread on the N in IN, and TRUST, all seem to have similarities. Main one I see is the 45 degree angles on the top of the U in trust. There also seems to be multiple eyes which I don't believe is a case of pareidolia.
To help out you should try and move the coin around so your photos aren't tilted. Also less flashlight or light you're using for better pics. If you can adjust sharpness it usually helps as well. And DDO / DDR's are possible for sure. But if I had to guess you're going to be told Die deterioration doubling. Usually tell tale is when every single letter/number is indented in the centers like that.
Could be machine or DDD but something about his shoes, face, the trees (trunks and canopies) and the doubling in the upper memorial columns are telling me it could be something.
