Hello to all you wonderful people. I would humbly like your opinions on this coin. This is probably pmd, but maybe its some kind of plating error. How do you tell the difference?

Hey, I'm new to coin collecting. I would appreciate it if someone was able to help me determine if this is a legitimate error coin or environmental damage.
The edge is tapered inward to this side of the coin and the lettering seems to be touching the outer edge. Sorry if this is a mistake on my end, I'm new to this. |
