Hey everyone, I was wondering what was up with this coin. I know it is probably post mint damage, but I was wondering if it might be a clipped planchet. Let me know your thoughts :)

It appears to be raised from the surface of the coin.

Is the line beside the O in one a die crack? It looks like it is raised from the surface of the coin.

I know this isn't a very valuable coin given its grade, but I still think it is a cool example of a mint error. Let me know your thoughts!

Thank you for the insight and the welcomes! That is the best way to think about the situation, we weren't there and there is no need to speculate when there are so many other cool coins to look at.

Hey everyone, I found a nickel that had a strange kind of post mint damage, causing it to darken. I was wondering if anyone knows what environmental factors cause a color change of this type. Was it put in a fire, buried, exposed to grease, or did someone take a black marker to it?

Hey all, I know this is a terrible worn coin but I would like your opinions on which mint mark is on this US 5 cent from 1912.

I can upload more images if needed, thank you for your interest.

Hey everyone, I hope you're having a fantastic day :) So there seems to be a chip out of reverse of the coin, and a line through the back of the queen's head on the obverse. I think it is a mint error, but it could be PMD, let me know what you think.

Hopefully third time is the charm and I get to show you an interesting error!

Hello to all you wonderful people. I would humbly like your opinions on this coin. This is probably pmd, but maybe its some kind of plating error. How do you tell the difference?

*** Edited by Staff to Add Year / Mintmark / Denomination to Title. It's very important to have in the title. ***

Regardless, I hope you're all having a wonderful day :)

Hey, I'm new to coin collecting. I would appreciate it if someone was able to help me determine if this is a legitimate error coin or environmental damage.

The edge is tapered inward to this side of the coin and the lettering seems to be touching the outer edge. Sorry if this is a mistake on my end, I'm new to this.
