When I first looked at it, I thought it was a rim burr that happened after it left the mint, just a damaged coin but would have to agree with struck through. It would appear you can see the tip of it mashed in the L of LIBERTY, during the strike. Nice find!

Brand, I understand what you mean, many listings look similar to MD and maybe it is an RPM but still think it is MD in this case. You would know better, as you do deal with them much more than me, it's just an occasional change up for me.

Thanks, Jeff. I did get it to work with what you said but don't understand most of what you told me, just get rid of the "s". I don't understand most computer gobbledygook.

Yep, I posted for the same reasoning -makecents- mentioned above. Given the coinfacts showed similar, I wanted to get other opinions.

You nailed it, good recall, there is so much to remember. You will find them in varying degrees, here is a shield I found a little while back with feeder finger damage.

MD can and will affect only one device on up to all of them.
I agree with Cujohn on the isolated MD on the mm. Fantastic work on the rest of this though, Brand!

Wow a lot of discussion...for something that looks like straight up Machine Doubling to me....
Greasy Fingers, maybe this will help with why I took time to look at it. Definitely MD going on but maybe more....

Well, this would explain my confusion when checking out listings.... So we are dealing with a 69S, correct?

Here is a comp of the coin facts pics that you had links to and yours. The left pic looks to be RPM-002, the middle pic RPM-001 and then yours on the far right. Yours does not look to match ether. I think the reason for the confusion with the coin facts is that one gets an FS# for the RPM and the other gets the FS# for the DDO it is paired with, two totally different dies, as you can see by the mm location. I would add VV links but they have not been working for me when I download them on here for some reason, this has been this way for a week or so for me, not sure if it is this way for others.

I will spend more time on this tomorrow but something is eschew. Different listings do not match, descriptions are different and of different pics I have looked at, the mm locations are different. Need some time to check this one out....

One thing I like to do is download the full coin shots of a VAM from VAMWorld to check them out more closely. Sometimes you can pick out things on the full coin shots that are not always mentioned or picked out in the description. That being said, it could just be die damage and not necessarily clashing, in this case but you could still possibly match it up. If a different die stage though, it might not show.

At the end of the day, if you have to "question" what you are about to do or have done, you know the answer. That being said, I have met some folks throughout my life that do not have this conundrum, I do not understand them. I suppose there are different levels of right and wrong in different peoples minds but if it bothers you, in any way, then it is probably wrong for you....
