no problem rocky, but I am worried about the accuracy of the auction description. They describe a "float" lens with variable magnification from 0.4 to 0.65, but the picture is of a fixed mag lens with 2x one way and 0.5x the other. Do you have any other info on the lens/seller?

Did you buy the same lens? It's an excellent lens, optimized for 0.5x (great for coins) one direction, and 2x (great for detail shots) the other direction. I have a similar one optimized for 3x and 0.33x, and it is one of the sharpest lenses I own.

I've been tinkering around with some of the lenses mentioned in previous posts (El Nikkor 75mm, el Omegar 75mm-from Japan), I was struggling filling the sensor (Canon Rebel XS, Vivtar T- Universal Bellows, no Focusing Helicoid) with all coins above nickel size and decided I needed a 135mm enlarger lens and found this off brand JML 135mm 4.5 w/39mm threads. Seller had sold several of these lenses so I made an offer and now I own it. While waiting for the JML lens to arrive ( https://www.ebay.com/itm/2724381286...SR9727LW7YQ) I finally figured out how to fit all coins into my camera sensor.

Here are a few pics of the new lens

All constructive criticism appreciated, lighting used of SBA was two 75W incandescent bulbs and the Merc 10c was this https://www.ebay.com/itm/1151699601...9SR7ybyba7YQ .

Looks good but a bit fuzzy. What is your aperture setting on the lens? I also prefer black or grey backgrounds rather than white, but some folks like white. I'm surprised at the way the ringlight illuminated the dime, very nice shadow detail, which is not common for ringlights. Must be that it is small in diameter.

I don't remember the setting for the SBA, probably f8, the rev of the SBA is fuzzy must have forgotten to adjust focus on that coin. The Merc. looks okay to me I only posted it because of its toning, that little ring light seems work well with colorful coins and typical proofs (spotty, etc. which haven't turned out well with my Canon macro lens) Haven't tried really nice proofs, or slabbed yet .
I'll test the ring light on my proof Franklins soon and see how well they turn out.
Thanks,
Mike

I think I've figured out what may be contributing to the "fuzzy" images.
I noticed my bellows drifting down a little before I get it locked in and my photo editing software all of a sudden is beginning to degrade my photo's during the export process to the HD file.

I figured it was something like that. Always review the photo carefully before publishing, otherwise you don't know what you're putting out there.

On ebay: "New! OMEGA El-Omegar No. 455-111 75mm Enlarging Lens Aperture Range f/3.5 NIB"

A pretty nice little lens New in Box for $25, free shipping. A great starter lens for someone wanting to try out this method of coin photography.

That's a great deal for the El-Omegar. It's a nice lens and works perfectly for coins. Amazing the kind of deals that can still be had.

Too bad that the original links (in the very first post) no longer point to the lenses...

Well, I mean they are links to ebay. You can't expect ebay links to work 12 or 13 years later.

If you google or search for the adapters on ebay you will find options.

For example search for "M39 M42 Adapter" and you will find many options for adapter rings. Most will come from China - so you will have to be patient on their delivery, but there are some options to get them faster from USA sellers.

Similarly, you can search for "M42 Canon Adapter" (or the brand of your camera; Nikon, Sony, etc) - and you will find options that will adapt the M42 threads on the top end of your bellows into your camera mount of choice.

Vintage Hansa Enlarging Lens 75mm F: 3.5 Japan NIB

I don't know this particular brand, but it's not much "risk" for a New In Box enlarging lens for $22. I'm guessing it would make a very fine "starter" lens - and would likely give better results than 90% of the coin photos posted online.
