Good deal, with the price he had it listed as, no doubt he was trying to mislead. If he was not, it would have been listed at 40 bucks, and no one would have ever even figured it to be real solid 1/10 instead of pure .024K....

I am glad you sent him a message Mmerlinn, rattle his feathers a little bit, and he will know there is many wise bidders out there will not tolerate such angels on deception....

Too me his pricing was set for someone who does not understand or follow the ol.... When something looks to good to be true, it probably is....rule....

What was it like 125 total, a quick fast buy short of good examination, and the buyer would think they saved 50 to 75 dollar bucks, what a great bargain, or not.....

I will NEVER buy or sell anything plated or clad, just a bad idea to me. I am not knocking you that do, and if have a legit profit from buyers on them who know exactly what they are getting and are tickled pink to get it, that is all fine and dandy. Just not for me, as it creates TOO MUCH confusion, bad for the PM market of the real metals IMO.....

My search term for silver or gold on ebay is getting longer and longer these days:

"whatever silver coin I'm looking for -mil -mils -mills -mill -grain -grains -gramms -clad -replica -layered -copy -HGE -filled -plated -copper -titanium -nickel -brass"

Wish I could just call it " -crap"

This reminds me of those coins sold on TV; PURE GOLD .......plated, and made to look like legal tender.

Yes, I also thought of those TV hucksters in this regard. I love it when they claim that something is plated in PURE 24K GOLD! They repeat the words GOLD and 24K and PURE over and over. Only once do they mention that it only has 71 mg of gold. That is about 0.0023 oz of gold. At today's prices of about $1715 to the oz., that amounts to a whopping $4 or so worth of gold... which they will cheerfully sell to you for only $49.95! Such a deal.

I love you guys! It's nice to know I'm not the only one with such a low tolerance for this sort of crap, whether it be on TV, the Internet or what have you. I get so tired of people making excuses on behalf of these sellers like, "it's the buyer's fault for not reading the fine print" or "if the buyer weren't trying to get a steal he wouldn't have gotten burned." A scam is a scam, period!

No question. A seller can cancel a listing, but only ebay can remove it completely so you get that notice.

Good job, gents.

That's for sure, Barry. One of the best things about this site is the education that a newbie can get from the more experienced hands. I've learned a LOT from others here, so am happy to pass it on to others who haven't gotten the word yet.

I don' like beating a dead horse but, you guys talking about the gold clad coins that say copy some where on the coin, I know you'all have seen the Police Auction, I have just come across it last week. Got to looking at the stuff up for auction, and there were the clad coins, but the thing that really got me was the people that buy these gold nuggets that weigh .11 grams worth $4.47 and there bidding $21.00 dollars on, and the one that was .25 grams $10.15 and bid $96.00 on it, now if they would keep there bid below the weight price maybe could make out, But then there is the 7.95 shipping on each item, what a rip-off.

I really don't know why I'm even worring about this , except that when I see a thin likr this I just have to figure it out.. on ebay , I saw a coin I guess it was in a PCGS card marked MS61, with a 4 Pd in the upper right of the card, I think the seller took this to stand for pound, and the sales add said ( Saudi Arabia gold 4 pound for sale ) now 4 pounds of gold is around $18,928.11 the buy now was for $3,280.00, what a I thought what a deal, then I got to reading the back of the object, was marked 493.1+ Grains,Fineness 916 2/3 and below that 452.003333 GR. after figuring the grains X the price of gold is 1,226.96, then figured the 452.0333 X the price of gold and it was 1,124.79 for the item, so I don't know why I let it bother me that the seller is wanting or wishing for someone pay $2,155.21 more than it's worth? I don't get it what up with that...'O' well go figure...Tired Warror, I got to much time on my hands LOL...

The general rule with gold is that if it's too good to be true, it is. ANY gold sold below spot is either:

1) Stolen
2) Fake

There are no exceptions. Buyer beware.

Sorry to bump a dead topic, but these Cook Islands are all over the internet still. Lots still on ebay and for $129 or so. I had to save a customer from buying one last night, searched and found this thread.
