Jwharper, you could be a buyer for other collectors--you always find great coins for good prices!  I just know I enjoy any ancient coin as a gift, no matter the price... |

It's like a contest to see if I can get a better deal than the last one. As it is, I'm beginning to accumulate duplicates and coins I don't need for my collection strategies, so I will be slowly selling off some of these "great coins" in the near future. Like I told Gil-galad, I'm not in this to be a dealer. I'm a collector, so any coins I sell will not be for profit, but rather I will sell them at the price I purchased them plus the shipping I paid (if I have it annotated. My earlier coins I neglected to keep records of shipping costs). I haven't made up my mind just yet which coins I will be selling, but when I do, I'll let everyone know. |

I know I can list them on the CCF coin auction, but, again, I'm not a dealer, and not sure I want to get into auctioning off coins. I need to figure it out first. I have sold a few coins off line to Gil-galad, but there will be more coming I assure you. As you can tell from my many posts, I'm constantly buying, so my collection is getting out of control. But, hey, what's a guy to do when he sees a great deal? Right? RIGHT?  |

While I agree the coin was overpriced and $10 would be plenty, it does seem wrong to compare it to regular Claudius II coins which are more easily found with legends than these consecration issues. It is a common coin but has just a little more interest as a death commemorative.

Thank you guys seriously. I'm stuck in a dilemma. Do I send the coin to my recipient and allow him to return it, either bye getting the money back, or to pick out something else. Or do I return this gift and find something else. I'd really like to make the gift as special as possible but if I go with the later it won't get to the person until after xmas. I think the want all gifts to be exchanged bye the 15th.
Sorry I wasn't able to reply for a little while, my monitor took a crap on me. Can't get it to do anything but say Check Video Cable Its an HPw2207h. And my dog of 12 years is having her last days. Shes my baby and I believe she suffered a stroke, being shes unable to move much. And shakes a lot. Shes unable to get up at all anymore. Its so hard to watch 1 of the family go. Sorry to post this on this forum, I've been on CCF for about a year now, just normally troll modern, classic, GD, Bullion, and medal detecting. lol I will be adding some ancients to my collection! Holding pcs of history in your hand a such with a ancient leads me on a endless journeys and possible events. I love toying with the ideas of who handled the coin, and things like such. Thanks again, I've come to trust the members here on CCF, Why I didn't reach out before I purchased this coin first, I can't figure out. But if one of you have an ancient coin that you think a gentleman who collects ancient Greek and Roman coins would like for $30 I'd be interested in purchasing it. I haven't seen my receiver's name in any of the postings so I doubt I'll whined up buying the coin from the same guy I'd be giving it to. lol Ohh yea thats the reason I went out to Chance Bay. lol

Man, what a bummer. I had to put my last dog down 12 years ago, and I've never gotten over it. She was my girl. I don't know how she knew, but about 10 minutes before I was suppose to be home from work, my wife said she would sit patiently by the front door with her tail wagging. I still miss her! I offer my deepest sympathies if you have to let her go.
I have sent you a PM with a possible solution to your coin problem. In all honesty, I would gladly accept any coin as a gift and be glad of it. It's a gift after all, and the thoughtfulness behind it.
I sincerely hope things begin to go your way and soon.

Thanks JW, I'm going to miss her. She's the best guard dog you could ask for. No one can make it inside the gate without having to remove a 120lb Rot. That is that don't live here. She watches over my 3 year old son as if he were her own. That's something you can't replace. I'm going to check my email now. Thanks again.

Think I'm going to just send this coin. I'll let him chose what he wants to do. Figure it'd be better if it arrives before xmas. Is it the WoW gift I wanted and worked hard to get for him, probably not. But we will have to see.

It truly is the thought that counts here. It's a fairly common bronze, but that's not the point; it's a gift. Odds are your intended recipient will not have one (there are literally thousands of different Roman bronzes)and an Ancient coin is always welcome. This has a remarkably well-struck portrait and a nice patina-a nice addition to the collection.
