If I had to guess I have one similar to one of yours around my neck the bottom one. I have had it looked at before when the price was higher. I think they offered me $10.00 for it. With the price under $30.00 you might get offered $15.00 if they are on the heavy side but don't hold your breath. With all the ebay fee and paypal fees any profit will be eaten up. Best to hold on to for a rain day.

FYI "Italian" silver may not be silver at all and even if it is, may not be to 925 fineness, even if stamped.
Italy stamped jewelry are the bane of the scrap business. Have it tested at a local pawn shop, or jewelry place and see if you have the real deal before listing.

Well they were both gifts from long ago, and look like silver to me. Thanks though. Taking a chance on a cheap Chinese made scale. 4 dollars on ebay, includes shipping. Lol.

Buffalo Bonehead, Just an FYI that might help you there are 20 DWTs in 1 oz. I would offer you like $15 just by the looks of the chains probably an oz of sterling. So take a scale weigh it then multiply that number by .925 that will give you the spot price, then take 85% of that number and thats want you should get in scrap. I wouldn't bother with ebay not enough money to bother with IMHO.

+1 the time, fees, and risk associated with selling on ebay for a one-time, under $30 item may not be worth your while.

The chain weight x 0.925 would give you the actual silver weight, which would then be multiplied by the silver spot price per oz. and the 0.85 number to arrive at the current scrap price. Yes, I know... picky, picky...

The best place to go for digi scales is either Amazon or ebay. Both you can get a good scale weighing up to 1000 grams, plus with a calibration scale for under 10 bucks with free shipping. These scales weigh in grams, grains, carats, oz, troy oz, and a few others. The calibration weight is also very very good to have because otherwise how do you know the scale is accurate, and if its not accurate how could you reset it without one? :)

If you don't have a scale, take something that has a known weight and add them to your hand with the other hand holding the chain.
One thing I would advise is to not sell them as scrap. That's ridiculous. Although they are machine-made, they are in a readily known form and are worth more than scrap. In case you're wondering, the style of that chain is called "Figaro".
And it's not "Italian silver" you should be worried about (at all)... it's "Chinese silver", "Mexican silver", "German silver", etc that should worry you, because they are misnomers for nickel-based alloys. Italian silver is some of the best around.
The offers that you got were ludicrous. Talk about low-balling. Just keep them, you'll never get them for those prices discussed. The person offering you that much was trying to "steal" them from you.
