Mila_cent: You could try the following coin dealer, I believe that they would have all the Australian lunar coins that you are looking for.

http://www.prospectstampsandcoins.c...ns/index.htm

They have every lunar coin for each year that the Perth Mint has produced in the 1/2 ounce, 1 ounce, and 2 ounce silver coins. Keep in mind that the prices that they quote are in Australian dollars which will make it cheaper for you to purchase.

And remember to say you don't want to pay the 10% GST (Goods and services Tax).

Yes, people outside Australia can buy Australian collector coins 10% cheaper than Australians who are living at home. Go figure.

If it were not for the expensive postage, I'd be asking those of you living in the USA to buy my coins for me. LOL.

Mila Cent Sn31 other North American Australian collectors

You have been given some good advice above and you will find prospect stamps and coins to be fair in their dealings.

But like any item in life you should always shop around.

I would recommend you look at Bigfellas Coin shop
he is an active member of the forum
also look at
Downies

Downies has an 800 phone number from North America and a place on their site to select American vs Australian prices and shipping.

I support Bigfella for his support of the forum, but I buy from other dealers as well.

If you want specifics,
email me as I do not want this thread to become a listing of Australian dealers.

If we have any other Australian Dealers out there as forum members- let me know and I will be happy to talk about your services as well- I know I have bought from one or two more of you lot.

I have the Lunar sets in both Gold and Silver and you can also purchase some nice display boxes for them.

Keep collecting those Aussie coins-

Thank you Snooba, I checked it out. But I am trying to understand..does this mean that the 'pig' is the coin for 2007 ?

"Keep in mind that the prices that they quote are in Australian dollars which will make it cheaper for you to purchase".
I don't quite understand this. According to the list--Perth Mint
Silver Proof Lunar Coins - 2007 Year of the Pig --1 oz A$75.00..is this what I would pay [USD] for this coin? Thanks.

Mila_cent:

The proof 1oz is AUS$75.00 which equals US$58.80
Specimen 1oz is AUS$30.00 which equals US$23.55
(At current exchange rates)

Also there is a GST (goods & services tax) component in the prices quoted on their web site, which you, as a non-resident, will not have to pay. So it will be slightly cheaper again.

I hope that this helps clear things up a little.

2007 Year of the Pig
2006 Year of the Dog
2005 Year of the Rooster
2004 Year of the Monkey
2003 Year of the Goat
2002 Year of the Horse
2001 Year of the Snake
2000 Year of the Dragon
1999 Year of the Rabbit

Good luck with any purchases that you may make!

I agree with PNC King, it is a lovely florin! A nice uncirculated shilling with the Ram's Head is always good to look at too. I love the lustrous sheen on an uncirculated shilling! My will-power becomes very weak when confronted with one.

Hi PNC king,
Pre-decimals are very appealing to me,especially the six pence.

Someone special actually sent me this 1927 Florin, one of my particular favorites!!

I have the Lunar coin set (1 ounce silver) as well as the Kookaburras.

Now, thanks to such great people as Triggersmob and Snooba, I'm collecting 20 cent and 50 cent pieces.

I'm waiting for my Dansco albums to arrive so I can start filling those spaces!!

"Come on, Aussie, come on, come on. Come on Aussie, come on."
Old Australian coin collectors war cry. Used during periods of stress and/or joy. Also popular with some sports fans.
