I'm hoarding also. I know it's unlawful to mutilate(melt)or alter coins. But is that not intended to prevent counterfeiting or trying to unfairly gain value through some sort of deception?

I've been hording wheat pennies for the last 20 years. Its more of an addiction than anything else. Every time I come across a wheat I pluck it out of my change, bring it home and throw it in a pile. I know I won't profit on it, but I enjoy saving them.

I hoard wheats for fun. I usually don't profit on silver, due to my unwillingness to purchase when the price is low. I always wait for silver to go lower than what it is.

You guys should see what I went through the last two weeks.

My daughter got a job at a bank and gave me a call that she has 250 dollars in pennies and nickels from an old guy that had his wife pass away and wants to get rid of them.

The were probably over 300 wheat, a big hand full of 1955 unc (for some reason but I'll take them") I separated anything 1981 and down and there is 46 pounds of them.

This reminds me of when I was a kid and all of the times and fifty cent peices I spent and never had a clue that the price of silver was going to hit the roof.

I'm saving this time !!!

If you are not aware of all the latest finds in cents (pennies), check out the coppercoins.com web site. They have two books out on just those cents. I have them both and you'll be amazed at how many different error cents there are.

Thanks for the web page. Have checked it out already. People actually try and collect that "little error" stuff?

I save all of mine in a separate little baggie. I will roll them up every now and then and deposit them at the bank to put them back into circulation just for the fun of it but am thinking I will start keeping them and only roll the zincies.

Rest in Peace

A friend and I attended the ANA Convention in Denver. The friend happened by a dealer who just wanted to get rid of some Wheat Cents, so the friend got to buy 1,500 of them for face value!

I have an estimated 50,000 cents hoarded. I have no idea what I will do with them. Guess the kids and grandkids can deal with them after I head for "The Great Beyond."

I'm not. I just save the pre-82 Memorial cents because they are made of something more valuable than the copper plated zinc garbage circulating nowdays. I guess I just like having what are, in my opinion, "real" coins. Besides, I really like copper

As far as Wheat reverse cents go, save all of them you can find. I have about 20,000 of those little suckers in big bank bags
