IMO this MS67 dollarlinked to by canadian-banknotes,is strictly a "money" coin.It may well be a technically graded MS67 but it lacks the eye appeal of many of it's lower-graded lower-priced bretheren. Our grading system makes "rarity for rarity's sake" coins like this possible, they have no appeal or history, they are strictly, investment grade coins.Investors need coins like this because truly rare and significant Canadian coins don't sell frequently, and dealers are more than happy to have a supply of these coins available.Buyers of coins like this never want to hear "buy the coin not the holder" to them the number that comes after MS is all that matters.
Rest in Peace

$5000 for a one-sided coin graded by someone who got lucky the night before? No way!

With so many ICCS holders out there, makes one wonder how much switching coins in ICCS holders there is. Buyer beware ?

I just asked a question for him to post the other side of the coin and also what the ICCS number is.Not for me but I must say I do not mind the tarnished look of the coin however the price to me is way above what I may want to pay for a coin that may be meant for those who collect for future $'s.ship

You guys figure its VF just because it's toned? I'd reserve silly comments like that till you see it in hand. we can't question the grading sight unseen. about all I'd say is the picture subdues eye appeal. It may turn out to be an original undipped gem business strike, which is possible for that year.

It's not the fact that the coin is toned, its just that it looks like it has been in circulation... From the picture, the coin has very little detail in the hair and definitely not worth the $5,000 asking price (IMO).

I may be wrong, but I think this is the same coin that I seen at the Fall Torex. I walked past the coin, and then noticed the grade and was shocked. I said the same thing that I wrote in my initial post. I didn't think that the coin was an MS-67.

I never do business with them. Period!
I do not understand WHY Torrex supports them.
maybe there are underlying reasons we do not know?

They are 'fishing' with that online store... almost 'phishing' in my opinion....

Somewhere out there, is someone with lots of new money, and not a lot of time spent studying what they collect....

P.T. Barnum described it best when he said "there's a sucker born every minute". Apparently this online seller is looking for one of those suckers.

Secoinedchance, Charlton may list the *Z/Z at $9K, but who has any for sale at that price?...no one.
The note is super rare and is probably the only one on the market right now. Although you could argue the paper market is quite soft, and he probably won't get over book, but at one time they could have, and anyone looking to buy right now would have to pay the price.
It says right in the book, "only a guideline" which is true for any publication. I hate to see anyone miss an opportunity by going too strictly by the guide.
Example: I sold a coin one time for triple trend because I and the seller knew the trend was out to lunch...thought I was pretty smart...a year later the trend quadrupled...who's smarter now?

numismateer, send me a message.... after four years of searching, well, to paraphrase an old Star Wars quote... (while waving my hand in a jedi-like fashion)
