^ Agreed. I just wish that the Gov. would make our currency FULLY backed. I want the good inside feeling that when I buy something, I am not spending a promise. @ZiggyZ - True! True! But wouldn't you enjoy NO inflation. And wouldn't you want a standard? I agree with what you say, but my Point of View is very different than yours. I am enjoying this discussion. So... To keep it going... On Topic: What do you guys think about going back to a standard? Gold, Copper, Silver Standard? Ron Paul's opinion good or bad? :D

What about a standard that is based on the unimproved capital value of land? Only U.S. Citizens would be allowed to own it. Nobody can steal land, and take it outside the Country.
That supply cannot be increased or decreased, and the value of it is only influenced by it's location, as a result of demand.
THAT would help to stabilise the value of real estate assets as well as the currency.

It doesn't have to be gold or silver standard. Even copper and tin can back a currency.

@sel69l - That isn't too bad of a plan. It would lead to a lot of fraud and stuff. But something could be made.
@angel2004 - A very strong trust! :P
@Coinsearcher - what about plentiful metals like nickel and zinc? (I know zinc is in pennies... I'm saying dollars are backed by it) Even aluminum is possible!
@amida17 - I see what you did there! :P

^ Thank you! But, I think it should be a rule that you can only say welcome as a side note of an on topic post. I have been told welcome out of the blue about 20 times. I think you must make a contribution to the thread and you can add a little PS: welcome at the end of your post. Just posting Welcome (name) randomly feels like spam to me. But, seeing as you have close to 7000 posts your ok. I just want topics to stay on topic.
On Topic: If Ron Pauls Gold Standard plan is put in action... Do y'all think it will work? (IFFFF he wins)

I'm not sure zinc or aluminum would work, though. The idea behind backing currency with precious metals is exactly that: They're precious and relatively hard to come by. This gives them value. If we were on a nickel or aluminum value, Canada would probably buy us out..lol kinda kidding.
The reason gold was used was because it was rare and workable. Nickel and aluminum are pretty common, and this could lead to inflation. (I think. It's also possible I have no idea what I'm talking about.)

SinceWhen. Yes I think the RP ideas will work. I think many of his ideas will. Our country really needs strong currency especially since sOme counties are starting to veer from using the dollar. If the dollar loses its status as the world currency it will hurt the dollar

We are a family friendly group here and as such, like to welcome folks and make them feel at home. Anytime, and anywhere. If you would like folks to continue to amuse you with your debate, it will go a long way to accept "welcomes" from folks in this topic or any other. There is no need to reply to any of them. Especially with comments like above. I'm pretty sure your comment would be the only reason it would get off topic. If for some reason you feel that you have some good ideas for new rules or do not like the way this place is being run, please feel free to use the "notes to staff" link and we will take it under advisement.

THANK YOU tights24, I was starting to think things have changed in the US Paper Money section of the CC forum and I was just going to send my farewells and jump ship. I didn't join the forum to learn how to save the USA or the world from some kid. I'm sure there's many other forums he can do that on.
I joined to learn about "collecting" US Currency. THANK YOU again. Regards Bill Collector
