I would certainly agree with AU50 details and some polishing. Carry it in your pocket for a while. XD

Detail is higher than it looked in fist pics but still would not go as high as AU....XF 45. Unfortunately agree with the polishing.

I knew when I picked it up that it had been polished. But, I couldn't resist the variety & price. Quote: Carry it in your pocket for a while. I thought about that. But, I was worried about losing more detail. Is there another way to try and lose some of the polishing?

It should re-tone overtime. You could speed up the process by providing the right conditions though.

This looks to me to be an EF-45 details/polished example of O-101 (R1) (1811/10, punctuated 18.11). Quote: Carry it in your pocket for a while. I would NEVER carry this around in my pocket. IMO: If you keep it in your pocket, it will continue to polish and you will lose the details you have now.

I agree but, Moe look at the T-I relationship. Looks like the I is not centered. Maybe thats just the angle of the photo?

Quote: I agree but, Moe look at the T-I relationship. Looks like the I is not centered. Maybe that's just the angle of the photo? I finally came to that conclusion and went with O-101. The only other 18.11 die marriage (at least that I know of) is the O-102 (R4). It had the same Obverse die but a different Reverse die as O-101. The I under T in the O-102 is much farther right than the OP's reverse picture shows. Also there is an extension of the top (#1) horizontal line on the reverse shield out into the right wing. I don't see that in the OP's picture. So, I guess I'll stick with O-101 (R1) for now...

You need an Overton book Chris. "Early Half Dollar Die Varieties". If you get one try to find the 3rd edition. IMO

I also am a BIG FAN of Coinzip.proboards.com. LOTS of pictures, discussions and equally fanatical coin lovers! You'll need to join and sign in but it's free. http://coinzip.proboards.com/index.cgi

Thanks to all for your help.
Moe145, I found the coin zip site just before you posted it. Your right it is a helpful site. I was able to id my halves, except for the 1828. The one that is pictured is O-101-R1.
Thanks Again All!
