Obsolete currency is so pretty and ornate. I have some baby bonds that were issued in Louisiana around 1874 and some fractional obsolete currency. I put them in a poster, but they shift around in there, so I will have to do something different with them. Pics are little blurry, but you get the idea of how they all look. They designed them so pretty back then.

Very nice display, CajunLady. You might want to try and put them in a plastic envelope and then tape the envelope to the poster board. Like some double faced tape behind it or create a circle of tape and use that. That way you don't see the tape and it'll look nicer.

OH, Briank...........do a search on ebay and put in your state... then select the group "coins and paper money". You may be surprised as to what you will find. Have fun looking.

I'll have to try that, but I'm sure it would be pretty pricey!

The reference book to buy for National Bank Notes is written by Don Kelly. It is organized by each state listing every known bank charter number along with the values for each bank. It goes into much more detail than the Freidberg book.

It was a $ 1929 Earlville Illinois note, had a crease but still has to be a rare note, First National Bank Of Earlville, sold for 241.00 was that a deal? Grade wise unsure ,looked good except the crease horizontally.

The FNB of Earlville small size notes are listed at $350 for either type 1 or type 2. The prices in the Kelly book are for fine condition. My book is the fifth edition.

Quote: Like some double faced tape behind it or create a circle of tape and use that Make sure it is archival tape. Gum on conventional tape turns gummy or yellows. Bought a stamp collection where they used mounts, but put a tiny bit of tape on the sides to keep them from sliding out. Tape went bad and stained the stamps through the mounts, making them uncollectable, but otherwise brand new.
