Yes, it was the one in Clifton. I would rate the show as OK. I got a few good deals and passed on a few more.

Tzarmarko, I didn't know you were from Fair Lawn. Coinage magazine Contributor and Author David L. Ganz resides in the same town.

Realy? I didn't know that. I do know that the former mayor is a major coin collecter. Maybe they are the same person? I went to the show last month, it was OK. just got one coin there though.

I had the same situation at the coin show in my city. The bullion dealers there did not bargain and asked $5 over spot for the 2012 silver maples no matter you were buying a single one or a tube. I was kind of disappointed. It must have something to do with that there are only two coin shows a year here. :(

Tzarmarko, they are one in the same. He used to be the mayor when I worked as a seasonal employee for one of the borough pools in town. I know he is still a Bergen County Freeholder. He wears many hats.

Fact is your just not always gonna find shows with guys giving great high dollar premium products away for a buck or two over spot. Not saying it does not happen when one seller for say needs cash bad an needs to take a loss to amass some money as it happens, but again far an few between....
Good high dollar rare old Engelhard bars will command 40 per oz. all day when silver is settin at 28 per oz. it just does not loose its value much, an many here can attest to that....
Charles Engelhard bars are the Rolex all others are compared to it seems. Be it a long trusted history or whatever....

Maybe we should expect dealers to sell for $4 under spot at least?

I understand and expected to pay a premium for anything over spot. Lately, I have been getting good deals online for up to $3.00 over spot including shipping. I guess I had high hopes of picking up a few for up to $3.00 over spot. As for Engelhard, my wallet prevents me from paying a high price for silver. I am the type of person who will choose a practical timex over an expensive rolex any day of the week. As long as it tells time, that is all I need to know. Same is true when I buy bars, as long as they are .999 silver from a reputable brand and dealer, I have no problem adding them to my collection/hoard.

I have gotten very lucky and have been finding sterling coins for around $13 each. there are places to buy way under spot you just have to get lucky and ask everyone you see.

Quote: I never pick up "numismatic silver bullion" like this but for 32 dollars, it was kind of hard to pass up. I agree, Trip. Like you, I am not into numismatics but would have bought those at that price. Well done.

I've got a LCS I get to occasionally and they are always spot +$1.25 on Englehard bars. Almost always has 1, 5 and 10 ozers in stock.

buying numismatic silver bullion is the best to flip for profit. if you can get it under spot and sell it on ebay you can than turn the profit into your old pour bars.

After some thought and hearing some of your comments, I decided to give coin shows another try. I am going to find a larger show this time, maybe if there are a few more dealers, I might be able to secure myself a good deal. There is a show coming up in my area which is about 4 to 5 times larger than the last one. I figure I can find more than two dealers selling silver bars.

honestly at my local coin show about a month ago (I posted a thread on here) I paid some premium for my silver, but they are rare and worth more than the value I paid. I spent about $400 on silver for 9 ounces, but I got 3 proofs, 1 of 650 set, and 1 of 3500 set. And then all four canadian wildlife coins so far, then an art bar 1 oz. So honestly you just have to look for spot price "common" silver, then look at silver with premiums, especially if proofs, and see how rare their mintage is and compare with say ebay auctions, but what they actually sold for, not what some sellers are asking (ridiculous buy it now prices)
