Thanks oxos ...
Well, you could probably get yourself a $10 Greek salad ... but yes, I agree (and I must having been thinking along those lines, late last night) ...
Hopefully one day, I'll be able to add a bit more info to barn-yard Bull-coin, but for now => thanks again!!
Well, I'm hitting the sack for the night (today was a nice, long, sunny day of golfing) ... "priceless"

Quote: I thought it may be a Roman Republic coin JW, I also suspect it may be from the same time period, but the overall style looks more Greek--is the inscription too?

Hi ... I don't mean to be a pest, but I'm merely asking one more time, just in case somebody was sleepin' out there last time ...
=> does anybody have any info regarding this poor ol' Bull-coin?
... anybody recognize it? ... anybody? ...
Thanks

I haven't seen a match...yet. I suspect the inscription will help, but what I see doesn't remind me of anything yet. Perhaps when you receive it, you'll be able to see more of the inscription.

Looks like a perfectly normal Greek bronze as issued by a thousands of cities in the last two centuries BC before Rome put a stop to most such issues. The city name should be above and below the bull but I do not recognize the type and can not read enough letters to name it. Perhaps a Greek bronze specialist would know it right off. I might try posting it on Forvm Ancients where more Greek collectors hang out.

thanks, DVC (Kurt) ... Wow, it's now totally gnawing at me ... go figure, eh? => man, $10 bucks says that I end-up spending $50 bucks to send this $10 buck coin to David Sear!! (*sigh*) ... never drink and ebay-shop!! Thanks for responding, Dude (I hope that you're having a great spring/summer so far!!)

Hi stevex6, I waded through some bulls but didn't find yours. Sorry my friend. I also have a Greek coin with a bull that I posted some time ago but has never identified. I can't make out the letters from the picture of your coin to search by that, but here are the closest things I could find to your coin, no matches but maybe one will be a lead: Boione, Aiolis, c. 300 B.C. 26572. Bronze AE 11, SGCV II 4173; BMC Aeolis, p. 101, 1 - 4, aVF, 1.425g, 11.0mm, 0°, obverse female head left, wearing earring and necklace; reverse BOIWNIT/IKWN, Gortyna, Crete, 200 - 67 B.C. 17597. Bronze AE 13, BMC Crete p. 46, 69 ff.; S 3194, F/VF, Gortyna mint, 2.562g, 12.1mm, 0°, 200 - 67 B.C.; obverse head of Apollo right; reverse Î"OΡ/TÎ¥NI, bull butting right; very thick flan with bold high relief features Unattributed, probably Sicily, c. 3rd Century B.C. 29007. Bronze AE 11, unattributed, probably Sicily, F, 1.370g, 10.6mm, 0°, obverse head right; reverse bull butting right

I suspect Doucet has hit on the right (or very similar) coin with #1.

Thanks Doucet, and DVC ... those coins are quite similar ... sadly, the portrait on coin#1 is facing the incorrect way, but they certainly look like coins from the same era/family ... => thanks again, coin brothers!!
