It looks to be around VF-35 to EF-40 to me.

Yeah I agree with what's said here, it's basically a coin that mostly looks like EF-40 but the band under LIBERTY seems to not be raised and complete, which probably brings it down to VF35. You would have to check it under a loupe to be sure.

Well I've taken this coin to three different c coin shops here I'n Utah and all three gave me verbal grades for the coin and said its a border line vf35 - xf40. Three different offers, one being 350(after I send it in and get it certified), the other two were 275$ and 315$. I think I'm going to hold onto the piece and get it certified through anacs then ebay it.. Each of the three coin shops told me they don't see this coin in this condition very much and all three tried wheeling & dealing with me on the coin, constantly bumping their offers higher and higher and it got me really suspicious on why they were doing so.. I decided to just hold onto it lol.. I'm hoping to atleast pull five hundred.. The shops also told me they had numerous customers in search of this coin and people with it on their wish lists. Makes me wonder if I can get more than what I'm being offered. They also pointed out that a pro certify ing company may grade the coin higher than what they are because its hard to Tell with my coin. Thanks again everyone here appreciate your help:):)

My Suggestion, Get enough posts here and post it on our auction forum. Have the start price at the max dealer offer. I'm sure i'll be bidding :)
To get enough posts: Start posting pictures of all the other coins. You'll hit 250 posts in a week or two.

UPDATED photos of the coin..use these for further reviewing/compare to others..these are better quality I do believe. Here they are, and as before, a few people graded my coin (there opinions atleast) this to be a VF30 to a EF40. Do these pictures help to clean up any confusion with that? ill put a few others if requested. these two seem to have came out the best I think,,.

First pics are better because in these pictures there is glare on the bust and hair which makes it harder to see wear and detail. A key feature on Barber's is the LIBERTY band on the bust so if anything try to get a close up view of that and/or the hair detail. Since this is a pre-1901 Barber half I would say (and I'm a novice so take it with an unusually large grain of salt) the line under the LIBERTY band needs to be raised and complete to get the XF-40 grade. Otherwise it is a very solid VF35. I would suggest sending your coins to PCGS or NGC instead of ANACS. First of all coins certified by PCGS or NGC make more money than ANACS, so even if its more expensive its worth considering. Second ANACS is known to slap "CLEANED" on many of their slabbed coins which will murder the market value of your coin (or just waste your time & money for the grading). Also something that might make you feel better: Quote:NGCcoin.com: Barber halves pre-dated the popular collecting of coins from circulation, which began during the mid-1930s. Though most of the dates after 1900 could still be found with some effort at that time and for a few years afterward, these coins were by then quite heavily worn. Thus, Barber halves survive primarily in grades below Fine. In fact, the grades of Fine through Extremely Fine are those most scarce and highly sought by date and mint collectors. Examples having their natural surfaces intact ("original" is the popular term) are always in high demand.

Consider using this as a resource for grading your coins yourself: http://www.pcgs.com/photogradeIt's useful and easy to use for coins that grade less than MS (anything up to and including AU). It shows you a reference set of coins in each grade so you can just compare your coin to the pictures. You should be able to get a pretty close idea of the grade for anything that has a little bit of wear.
