It's not "certified AU" it's "AU details"--big difference, imo.
That means you don't get an AU50 Red Book price for it (USD$550)
I Think even an EF40 RB is high ($240)

I don't like the shipping price.
If you live near the store, you should pick up your order.
Try the blowout sale.

Colonial Acres is a very reliable coin dealer.

It could be a mistake in their listing, send them an email.

This is a great first class outfit. If you spotted it on the holder, what's the issue?

When you buy them out, you can put it in the description....

When I see something they have and I want, I don't hesitate...

The issue is that they have provided less-than-satisfactory images for a problem coin with a price of almost $400. How bad is the cleaning? Expensive problem coins REQUIRE clear concise images but there is no way to tell from that lousy 3rd rate scan

No matter how scarce a coin is, if the Certificate states there is a problem with it, stay away from purchasing it! It will end up being the handicap coin of your collection.

Glenn makes a very good point.

Having cleaned coins in you collection, could make re-sale very difficult in the future.

I have never bought anything personally from Colonial Acres and have only ever heard good about them from postings of other members on CCF.
To me it is a serious listing "error" as the coin is described as NGC certified Almost Uncirculated without mentioning improperly cleaned or AU Details. What the holder says on it should always be the items description. At the least he should have said AU Details. He did not include the most important part in this coins desription, that it has been improplerly cleaned. Huge difference between a AU coin and AU Details coin.
The point here is not if you don't like it, don't buy it, or stay away from cleaned coins. It's a poor and unacceptable listing description for this item from a reputable dealer. I can see why you ask if the dealer can be trusted.

C'mon guys, it's not like they're knowingly trying to sell a counterfeit coin again. It is probably a OVERSIGHT on their part.

Colonial Acres are very trustworthy in my opinion.

I've dealt with them on and off for over 10 years at the major coin shows.

I do get the strong feeling that they are a little behind their times with their website, either neglecting to update coins that have been sold or in this case perhaps, a little 'sloppy' in the way they list their inventory.

I'd give them the benefit of the douibt and still feel very comforatbale in dealing with them.

Send them a question on it and see if they update it.

I'm just curious on when NGC started giving out "Detail" Grades on their holder instead of just returning your cleaned coins in a body bag while they pocket the certification fees...

NGC has been doing Details grades for 2-3 years now. Their sister company NCS used to slab the problems coins but now they just do the conservation work and NGC slabs all of the submissions.
