I don't think it is a coin, but just a medallion, in the original packaging for the coins it says it is there, and I'm sure it has been on sale for a while!

There are two versions of the swimming coin, this is the later, Royal Mint changed version with a more defined head (which I think makes the coin look worse)

We get nothing officially issued in the US I think that is most likely why the ANA is giving away the 50p coins.

@meerchant1

The 30th "coin" is a medallion, and is circular.

use the scroll bar part way down the page. The one you want is the last one on the right.

I am only aware of 30 including the medalion (and the swimmer variety), and this is all Spinks and the advertising show. If there are two others that did not make it to general release,I would love to hear about them.

We don't get them in China, though I did see an uncirculated set in Xining.

For the UK folks to missed out on The Royal Mint giveaway which started during the closing of Olympics, The Royal Mint is offering an album for the Olympic 50 pence coins for free plus the cost of shipping (£3) for folks in the UK.

Album has a spot for the 29 Olympic 50 pences and the completer medal (cost of this is £2.99).

Hi were given the set by a friend in a bank for our little boy. Just ordered album and completer from RA. Is it worth cleaning them before putting in the album? If so what with? Coke and Cillit bang look like they might do the job. Ta

most people would say never clean a coin - but its up to you.Personally, I agree - if its for display, clean them up!

Neither will do much particularly, except remove any crud and detail too if you leave them in too much. I recommend you give them a little acid treatment using cillit bang and then use an old toothbrush to remove any gunk.

Probably worth leaving them as they are and getting your boy to try and find better examples, then he can have fun trying to find them.

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

I have completed two sets (one for myself and one for a friend in the US). One coin left to find for my 2nd set which is going into the free folder I a while back from The Royal Mint. 7 left for 2nd set for my US friend.
