I tend to be a drop OCD as a seller though--so I am sure what I am about to say is not the norm, and its silly...but.... I also wish you could print a shipping label, and NOT have the item marked shipped in tern alerting the buyer.

Me too once it sells I want to get it shipped as soon as possible and be done with it so I will print the label right away too. I always pay right away when I buy since I know I would want the same treatment when I sell and definitely make an more of an effort to ship as soon as possible for buyers that do. Sometime I will even go to the main post office by me for those buyers which saves them a day of shipping time, if you wait days though Ill drop it off where ever I'm closest too. You can use the USPS website to do the online shipping there it might be a tad more expensive but still have free tracking for priority mail and doesn't mark anything on ebay. I always mark it shipped right away now and post the tracking since ebay dings you if you dont post tracking fast, but I also either drop it at the post office that night or the next morning depending on when it sold. I also hate how the tracking on ebay will still show the package hasnt been dropped off even though if you go to the usps sight its being processed and tracked |

Sometimes they wont but have you ever noticed how it will work on the USPS site as it is being scanned it just doesn't show if you click the ebay version of it. I have noticed what you talk about. You know what helps? I don't know if you're using an iPhone or iPad, but the USPS App, is actually incredible. All you do is scan the barcode with your device and it automatically stores every scanned barcode, when you open the app it updates every status.

Im actually a blackberry man myself. The emails as text messages is just too good to give up. I do have a USPS account that has all my numbers stored in past orders which is nice. Sometimes ill give email the tracking to the buy and tell them to go to the USPS site if it doesn't show up for to long. Just seems with how much emphasis ebay is putting on tracking they would make sure their site worked properly for it |

Seems like a lot of it besides mass volume sales is just getting lucky you dont get problem buyers. I had one ding me for shipping costs cus I only ship priority mail and state so in the listing, if he didnt like the cost he was free to pass on my item but that would make to much sense lol |

Basebal you're better off at non power seller status. You sell and ship with integrity, it may cost a little more to do business right, but the right buyer will buy. The power seller discount is honestly a joke anyway. My status was revoked for not accepting returns lol... But honestly I'm ok with that.

Joe ill never get there then, way to many people return things just because they changed their mind for me to be comfortable offering them. I wouldnt ever ship anything I wouldnt want to get as a buyer anyway

Basebal21, I really think you have a skewed view of how often things are returned. I've had 4, total, and I've always accepted returns. Keep in mind, I've had almost 300 transactions in the last 12 months, too. I was skeptical at first about offering returns, and was mortified when I got my first, thinking that all of a sudden every purchase was going to be returned. To my surprise, that was far from the case. Now I'm a top-rated power seller on one account, and I'm on my way on my coin account.

Brian I probably do, I think I've just had some bad luck with some buyers in the past to be honest. I had one lady threaten to sue me because I wouldnt refund her shipping cost when an item was returned to me because she didnt fell the need to go down to her post office and pick up her own mail even though they left 3 or 4 different notices for her that her package was ready for pick up since she was never home when they tried to drop it off. I did return her the cost of the item but had already shipped it so had no interest in losing money on the item. ebay sided with me but from that day I said no returns for me knowing buyers like her are out there. |

I offer returns, and a guy left me my first neutral feedback not too long ago, claiming the acid treated 1921-S I sold him was fake. He didn't bother contacting me, didn't file a claim, didn't ask for a return, and gave me high ratings (all 3+). I was down about it, no, I was REAL bummed about it. My first bad feedback in 14 years of being on ebay. On top of that, is was a completely false claim, and ebay told me it was his opinion, so they wouldn't remove it. Anyway, my point is, don't let a couple bad apples spoil the whole bunch for you. Getting top rated power seller status saves me a considerable amount of money each month. Trust me, it is worth dealing with the occasional bad apple. Even if you don't offer returns, you'll still get those bad apples, and most people know that ebay tends to side with the buyers. Just some food for thought. |

I don't sell coins, but I do sell stamps on occasion, and I must admit to a bit of prejudice. My rule-of-thumb is $50, but if I see an order from a buyer with LOTS of glowing feedback, I'm likely to self-insure. If it's only $40, but the buyer has limited or dicey feedback, I'll probably buy insurance. Sometimes it's just a gut instinct thing.

Brian sorry to hear about that. It really is sad how some people just want to complain no matter what. I understand why ebay leaves feedback, but ill never understand why they wont remove feedbacks that are inconsistent. For example a positive comment but bad stars or vice versa. If it really was that bad why did he leave neutral stars? If someone sold me an obvious fake I would want a full refund including all shipping costs and you bet id leave the worst rating possible. Id be on the phone with ebay about it too to make sure it happened not just say its fake and do nothing. Its almost like hes just trying to keep bidders away from youre future lots. Hopefully you blocked them. The top rated would be nice, truth be told I dont think I do enough volume for it either way especially with all the no returns I've already sold for this year. I guess I could offer returns and just have a 20-25% restocking fee to discourage them. I understand legitimate returns and wouldnt charge those the fee, but I would like to strongly discourage the problem buyer ones Edited by basebal21
