I tried several major banks last week, they all offer this roll exchange with no premium.

I believe most branches in main cities have this roll, but you have to act quickly, because it has already been released about one month.

My problem is that they often asked "how much you need", while I only need 2 rolls.

good luck!

Is this roll the same as the pack of 5 toonies that Mint release month ago?

RBC, CIBC, BMO.
I think you had better go to the "big" branches, most of which are in downtown in each city.

Also, it is not the pack of 5 toonies as Mint, but a roll of 25 coins.

I would imagine that the biggest head banks get their large shipment straight from the mint but that they have to redistribute them to their branches via armored trucks. So I don't really think that they would be available to the public from these central branches. That's just a guess, though. Just keep trying the bigger branches that have a lot of traffic and commercial movement, such as around big shopping malls where they need lots of change. Avoid small banks with small amounts of teller booths and that only have a few ATMs.

These toonies are out there in circulation so you just have to track them down. Try any casinos/slots in your area.

I read that the maximum mintage for this $2 HMS Shannon coin is five million, but I can't find the number of 5-coin packs published anywhere. Does anyone know?

I'm not sure how many of the 5 packs they did. But just so you know there are 4 more twoonies in the series to be released and there is a new 5 pack of loonies out as well. I'm sure you can only get these through the mint.

Looking at this:

http://www.mint.ca/store/product/mi...6&lang=en_CA

it seems to me that the next four releases will be quarters and not Toonies.

Good eye. Those look like the side view of quarters. I hope the don't change it to quarters. I was looking forward to a twoonie series. They don't mention what denomination they will be.

I think it is safe to say they will be quarters.

I received my three packs of the War of 1812 Two Dollar coins. My one comment is that on the whole, they are pretty baggy (especially on the queen's face which I understand is a prime focal area). More than a few have sizable rim nicks. I'm a novice collector, and I grade most of these coins as MS-63, and a couple possibly as MS-64. No gems out of the fifteen. Has my experience been similar to that of other collectors who ordered these 5-coin packs? I was hoping to get a nice MS-65 or two, but I guess circulation strikes are typically pretty baggy? Still, they are beautiful coins (I love the design:) And how can I complain when I bought them at face value. I wish the US Mint would have similar product offerings, but alas, I know that will never happen. Thanks for letting me share my experiences and post my questions. This is an informative and super-friendly forum:)

Welcome sturmgrenadier, the 5 packs are technically made for circulation, they are quickly processed and dumped into large bins, scratching/rubbing occurs. Just like the business struck coin rolls. I noticed the scratches a lot more on my lucky loonies 5 packs, but face value, free shipping (in Canada) and sealed makes it a great value.
