I'll have to wade into this creek with my four favorites.... The Columbian because I'm named after the fella; The Oregon Trail for the sheer beauty of the coin; The Antietam because of its deep meaning to those of us who are students of history; and finally, The Hawaiian because of my personal life experiences.... I cant pick one favorite, but Oregon Trail, Norfolk, Vermont and San Diego are some of my favorites.
I recently learned that I have a relative who fought for the 56th Virginia in the Civil War and was injured (but survived) at Pickett's charge. For this reason, Gettysburg is my current favorite and I need to get my hands on one!

Is the reason that DANSCO probably put FOUR positions in the 7070...no one can pick just one! ...or to provide balance to the page. My potential hole filler favorites are; Texas, Stone Mountain, Oregon Trail and Panama Pacific.

With so may really good designs out there it is hard to find one to call the best. As most of our posters have listed early commemoratives I will show a modern I feel has a really appealing design. 1996 Smithsonian If I were to choose an early commemorative it would be the 1915 panama Pacific $50, a coin of my dreams since I was a kid.

I have spent many hours on this subject as I keep my Red Book in the bathroom. Currently I am jonesing for the 1998 Robert F. Kennedy Commemorative due to the striking reverse. The Stone Mountain is also outstanding.
