Chrsmat71 nailed it, the price of the coin was $25. If you like you can post the next coin chrsmat71, if not maybe someone else would like to. This is an interesting thread and I for one would like to see it continue.

For the record: the coin is not a denarius but the double denarius we call an antoninianus. Postumus was one of the last rulers to issue this denomination in an alloy that could be called silver since the amount of copper added was getting ridiculous by his day. $25 is about right here. For the same money you could get a more worn earlier denarius in better silver or a later copper looking 'billon' alloy coin in better condition. That's the wonder of the common ancients: we can get something that looks decent from 1700 years ago for the same price as a 'key' date cent I spent when I was a kid.

I hope we are still playing, lets see how this one goes. This is one of the first coins I bought when I first started collecting ancients over 10 years ago. I probably paid too much for it back than.

As with all of these it very much depends on the venue.

If this coin were for sale on VCoins I would expect it to be in the region of $150-$180 but on ebay I would expect it to sell for $80-$100.

Well it doesn't look like we are going to get any more guesses so I'll just say who got it now. Nothus was right on with his guess of $45. Nothus hope you decide to post one of your coins and keep this thread going.
