Like others here who have posted, I use my real name in this and other Forums including ebay. Lim is actually my surname. Born in Singapore, completed my education in the UK and now a permanent resident of Australia. Coming from a mixed parentage of Chinese/Anglo-Indian...that makes me a real "chop shuey" ..

The numerals 118 after my surname when spoken in the Cantonese dialect means "everyday prosperous".......(I wished)...[:p]

To Susan and all the others, you have a great Forum here, keep up the great work....

Hi All,

Some of you might remember that I originally used the name "DreamMerchant". A Dream Merchant was an ancient Greek storyteller. A person who would roam from town to town telling stories of other places. People would listen and wish they could go and get out of the life they were stuck in. Donations would be collected and he would move on.

I thought it sounded neat at the time and was unique. Well times change and language's do too. Remember when being gay meant you were happy.? Well the same thing happend to me. All of a sudden I was being asked, by a bunch of people, if I was a drug dealer..! Some even asked if I thought it might be too risky advertising my business this way.

Well I changed it to my nickname "Catman". People who know me have been calling me this for years. I've had no bad feedback from it and I'm not in jail for dealing over the internet.

Well, my name is full Carl Hendrik Tromp, but a litte too long for a log in name, so it got just CarlTromp.
Becouse I have nothing to hide, I am not afraid to use my own name.

My name is Nick and there's absolutely nothing that I won't buy or sell for a profit, assuming it's not illegal and not more than mildly immoral.
So the handle of tradernick came naturally and has always stuck with me.

Cisco Kid come on over to Indiana as our local police just shot a fellow yesterday to free a hostage. They don't get this kind of action in our rural area often so I am sure they would welcome you with open arms (firearms)! Also please bring all your gold and silver to hide safely here at my place until you are ready to pick it up again. I don't want you to have to worry about its safe keeping while you are out "collecting" more! Thats an offer from the real "twoshadows" and a real buffalo hunter! But that is another story for another time!

Great to be able to say I have friends in crawl spaces! I have always said that I have friends who are so low, when they look up all they see is dirt! Can't get any lower than that! Actually all my fellow coin collectors will always be welcome here in Indiana but please.....BRING GIFTS!

Carl, You would be welcome here in an instant! I trade regularly with a couple of Dutch collectors and if it wasn't for them it would really be tough to get some of the silver euro's I now have. Great bunch of people in the Netherlands!

Well, if your thinking it's a great bunch here, come over and see for yourself.
I had collectors here already from spain, finland and chzech rep., so why not a few us folks?
In the beginning of februari we have the Holland Coin Fair, the biggest numismatic show here, also, in june/juli every year the dutch Royal Mint has an open day, a lot of dealers are there as well, and only on those days you can get some special coins sets.
In the beginning of the autumm the diverse coinshows and collector markets are starting up, when the bad weather coms, the collectors time starts again ;-)

Greetings, Carl

I kept my name simple by keeping it real. When searching for a username, I always found that "danmcbride" was already taken by someone else. After some thought, I decided that maybe adding my birth year to the end would make in unique enough that I would never encounter the "that username already exists" problem again.

It worked. I use the same username on at least 20-30 different forums that I visit. It's also my email address, as you can see.

To answer the question of the original post.....

"A name is just a name. Nothing more, nothing less."
