Thanks....
I'll post the rest as I get them photographed. There are a couple of odd ones.

That's a nice, big, gorgeous coin (very cool, yet a bit cartoonish Maximianus obverse) ...

I kind of like the stylized portraits, some really do look like modern animation.

Nice looking coin Doucet - some good details left on Genius. The face, cornucopia and patera are all very attractive. Antioch busts often have stylistic beards and faces on these, I like 'em! Quote: bobbyhelmet, I was looking hard for your Licinius, I think there was a worn one but I'm not sure if it was a Pop..Romani. I'll check it out again. Thanks for still looking and keep me posted if you do discover one. I too have been keeping an eye out but have found nothing, not even a picture! I've located a Constantine (known rarity) for a price I'm happy to pay but its in pretty poor shape so still deciding if I want it.

Quote: Well this week he pulled out a box from a bottom cabinet shelf that had about two hundred coins in old flips, paper flips, little bags, some loose, some labeled, some not. He said it's been there for twenty years and let me spend about an hour looking through them. I was thrilled, I've never handled so many ancients and each one was a new surprise. This coin looks exactly like what I would expect to come from a collection formed 20-50 years ago before metal detectors flooded the market with field finds that were then butchered by harsh cleaning methods. If all the coins were this nice, someone here will be asking how you limited yourself to seven. Suggestion: Buy for eye appeal and detail with good surfaces like this coin has. ID will come later. Unless you know you already have the coin in better shape or unless the dealer is unreasonable in price, old collection coins should be considered special.

I agree.
The reason I stopped at seven was my wallet.
There was one more that I wanted, a little silver Greek Euboia/ Nymph on Prow that was in perfect condition, but he wouldn't sell it just yet because he knew it was worth more than the others, but not how much.
I'll take some info about it to him next week and maybe make an offer.
Some of the coins were pretty beat up but there were still a lot of nice ones.

This one? I bought mine from a trusted dealer which I recommend since there are a lot of fakes of these out there. If the coin is in an old envelope that matches the 20+ year story, you may be OK but I'd beware of a loose coin or one in a 'different' looking envelope that might have been added later. I note most fakes listed have round balls in the hair. Some real coins do, too, but I feel better that mine does not. This is one to research a bit before paying a lot. dougsmit => "round balls", eh? ... curious ... ummm, this coin has been sitting in the queue of my want-list for quite some time ... I was unaware that this coin is commonly faked ... in your opinion, is this coin legit, or a fake? (thanks)

Its simple. There are a million types and few of us have a great deal of background with more than a few thousand. Guesses are all we offer. You will notce that the pros like Davd Vagi doesn't guarantee his slab work like the US guys do. That means he knows that there is a lot more to know than one lifetime is likely to provide. I would really, really like to know how many unrecognized fakes are in my collection. Two? Probably. Twenty? I hope not!
