I haven't gotten around to collecting the ones I really want to collect. I am mainly staying with Constantine for now, since it is a very affordable starting point. I would eventually like a nice selection of: Probus - His neck hypnotizes me Julius Caesar - The founder of the feast Justinian - Technically Byzantine, but even though he was a shameless dirtbag and a coward he spent his life trying to rebuild the western empire, his wife was kind of like a modern day biker chick, and he was a rabid sports fan. I never get tired of the story of the blue and green teams and how he used their rivalry to trick rioters into attending their own massacre. Good stuff.

Initially it was a no-brainer => I wanted the 12 Emperors!! (and I still am trying to collect "nice" specimens of all twelve) ... => but ever since I discovered that there are actaully "Rarity Tables", I have been spending a lot more effort hunting-down the rulers that are on the rarer-side of the ol' table(s)!! ... oh, and I'm also spending 50% of my efforts chasing the Greek-side of the ancient Coin World (yah, maybe I'm spreading myself kinda thin, but I'm loving it!!)

5th century emperors (Eastern and Western) are my favorites, even though I have to stick to the cheaper, less rare ones for now: Western:Johannes Valentinian III Petronius Maximus Avitus Majorian Libius Severus Anthemius Olybrius Glycerius Julius Nepos Romulus Augustulus Eastern:Theodosius II Marcian Leo I Leo II Zeno (Was looking for another thread when I found this one; not sure how I missed it in the first place )

I don't collect Roman per se, but have to admit when I find a Trajan, Hadrian, Nero, or Domitian, (somewhat in that order), I can be tempted.
I do collect Julian II since my son is named Julian. I tried to name him Julius to have an excuse, but wife said no dice. :(

Alas I do not have a favourite emperor. Though the following is the top five of the highest number of AE3/4 coins from the reign of an emperor that I ended up buying last year, i.e. a years worth. This shows who is the most commonest emperor to come across in AE3/4 coins. 1) Constantius II: 160 coins bought 2) Valens: 79 coins bought 3) Constantine I: 61 coins bought 4) Constans: 54 coins bought 5) Valentinian: 51 coins bought Suffice to say I am sick of the sight of all of these emperors AE3/4 coins. The emperors who seem to sell well, are the likes of Titus, Domitian, Caracalla, Elagabalus, Probus, very short reigned Emperors and Caesars and 5th century western and eastern Emperors.
