If it was cleaned, it was only lightly cleaned.
That's not a light cleaning.

Poor lighting and a harsh cleaning on this coin. The $185.00 starting bid price is too much for this coin, it should be $40.00 to $50.00 less to be fairly priced given its present condition.

I agree, that coin is trashed.

I heard there was also a show in Salem coming up... having a hard time finding dates for shows in Oregon.

Well Good to meet you too. The Coin Section was not anything special from what I heard. Friend of mine went and was disapointed, and it was $6 to get in.

The lighting could also be set up to hide multiple nicks and scratches as well.

I always like to see a coin in hand before buying.

this seller is notorious for cleaning...I have had dealings with them...I give them credit for how quickly they provided a refund with no hassles...I have spoken to the owner of this outfit on the phone, Bob, and he has been in the business as a dealer since around '67...he knows his stuff but he also knows how to rook newbies on the bay with his photo angles...EVERY coin is dipped...stay away and go spend $200 on a certified coin or go to a show and handle the raw one prior to purchase...

Just want to thank everyone for their comments.

My gut said the coin was cleaned. I learned to look for the scratches - thanks for the verifications!

I knew the coin was overpriced and would never buy from the bay w/out checking feedback. I also will not buy from someone who says no returns. 99% of my eb purchases are junk silver.

I do love walkers and aim to get a nice 38-D, my xmas present to myself :)

Thanks again folks. This is a great coin forum.

Silver, what part of OR are you in? And what condition are you wanting for the 38D? I'll keep my eye out

Thanks CG, I'm in Pdx.
XF+ but realize I am in no hurry, still stacking junk and funds are very limited.

I'll see what Liberty Coins in Vancouver has next month when I go to stack up again. They have very good prices on junk silver, just a few cents over spot.

Spent half my junk silver budget this month on one of those ads you see at the bottom of the page.

pawn shop? lol - I went to one a week ago - junk silver dollars @ $50 each!

There's a bunch of good shops here in Portland. When I was a lot more active I walked to Alpine Coin.
Now that I'm stacking I just drive across the bridge to Liberty.

Wow, $50! The one down here in Roseburg is pretty reasonable, Dont think any of his "junk" morgans and Peace are 50, most are 30ish. I think he has 130 on the 38D half he found in bulk silver.

Roseburg is a smaller market therefore he cannot afford to get too far out on pricing.
