I found this one in a pile of assorted junk coins. I never thought much about it. I showed it to a friend who thought it was real. I posted the pics in the Ancient Coin thread and the ancient coin guys agree that she's good. Here is what Gil-galad said about the coin: Augustus Denarius. Lyons mint, 2 BC - ca 13 AD. CAESAR AVGVSTVS DIVI F PATER PATRIAE. laureate head right / AVGVSTI F COS DESIG PRINC IVVENT, C L CAESARES below, Gaius & Lucius standing front, each with a hand resting on a round shield, a spear, & in field above, a lituus right & simpulum left (in "b9"-like formation). BMC 533, RSC 43. RIC 207. This would be the OLDEST coin in my collection.

Saw this topic and got excited to show my favorite silver coin! Reading through has been an eye opener, gorgeous coins! And the history is fantastic. My entry feels a bit out of place but I'm proud of it so all speed ahead. The holder is a mess but it's a pretty coin. I've been watching ebay for years to find the Apollo commems from T&C ; got this one from a seller in the UK. Here it is reflected off my blue shirt instead of the sky.
