$19 isn't to bad. Slightly higher than PCGS and NGC for moderns but you dont have the yearly fee. PCGS is 49 a year and NGC is 39 a year. Both charge 14 for moderns. Not sure how their shipping prices all compare but ANACS should be cheaper if your just getting a couple coins graded a year. NGC does also have a way for ANA members to submit without paying their yearly fee I've heard

Well, that's if I submitted 10 for the special discount. The link that basebal21 provided to me shows the standard fee is $19 per coin.

The Worcester show is about an hour's drive, but it's just a few blocks from where my brother lives and I have stopped off there on my way to visit him before.

The Westford show is probably 30-40 minutes away.

Weekends are very busy with all of my son's activities (piano lessens, soccer games, swimming lessons, drawing classes, ice skating, etc.) so we don't get to shows very often. Plus, they tend to get a bit expensive after awhile, so I try to just go to 2 or 3 per year.




The Eastern part is very densely populated, the Western part much less so. You can probably drive from one end of the state to the other in 3 hours. Basically, you've got Boston and its surrounding suburbs in the East, Worcester and it's suburbs in the Center and Springfield and its suburbs in the West. Then there is the whole "Metrowest" area that is a loose collection of towns between Boston and Worcester that aren't considered suburbs of either, and that's where Westford and Marlborough come into the picture.

I haven't submitted any coins to ANACS recently but I did submit some coins at the Bay State show a couple years back during one of their 10 for $100 specials. I forget how long the turnaround time was but I think it was somewhere around a month. The coins will need to be placed in 2.5" X 2.5" mylar flips but if you don't have any Paul Joseph(the representative at the ANACS table) should have some handy. That time, I didn't have any of those 2.5" X 2.5" mylar flips and brought my coins mostly in the cardboard flips. We put the coins in the mylar flips at the table. He had told me that he ships out all the submissions via Fedex the next business day. The overall grades or details grades were around my expectations with some high, some low, and some just right. Overall, it was a pleasant experience for me.

If you are in no hurry to get your coins back and you don't have 10 coins to submit, I would probably submit a total of 5 coins under the economy service. Turnaround is currently about 21 business days but the cost for the five coins @$14 each will be less than the cost of the 4 coins @$19 each. Return shipping will probably run you $20 maybe $25 depending on the declared value. I am not sure if you need to pay the attribution fee on that Ike dollar but that will be an additional $5 if you designate a variety or $10 if you don't. You may want to talk to Paul about that. You could get that morgan attributed as well but I am sure some of our astute forum members could do that for you for free. Assuming you will not have to pay the attribution fees, total cost for the 5 coins under economy service will be $14x5+$20=$90 and 4 coins under the 15 day service will be $19x4+$20=$96.

Ouch...in more than one way! Super bummer on the "details" 1921 Peace dollar! Cha-ching on the "CC" and Ike! The Barber Half was a toss-up. I got burned pretty bad at my last coin show by submitting some coins to ANACS on-site that I bought at the show...now I am twice shy about buying raw. I only have six more spots to fill in my 7070, but I am now looking at Paper and world 1 ounce silver. I am holding off on silver for a little while since it seems to be all over the charts, primarily down!
