I may be wrong but in my opinion that coin is 100% artificial toning.
I'm a little surprised most others don't agree with me.

double.... from what I have seen on ebay the AT always looks like a near perfect circular rainbow pattern.. almost target like.. ..I have several toned beauties and they are all different colors and patterns but not one has that target type effect... I know of a few sellers on ebay that have nothing but that type of coin ok most are US dollars but same thing... |

I believe the spotty blue toning could very well be natural (and at the time the rest of the coin was brilliant white) and then it was 'helped' along as proof of the orangy-brown toning.
This orangy-brown toning to me is 95% of the time artificial.

Question......
In regards to ALL toned coins, what is the best method of storing them to retain its current toned state?
If they aren't air tight will they continue to tone?

I beleive they do continue to tone .. remember there is air sealed in to any slab unless they are vacuum sealed .. But that's what make's them so wonderful to look at

I don't know how a coin would tone equally on both sides. If 'left in the wild' a coin is either face up or down - that face will tone, the other will be protected. When inside the fabled craft paper envelope, the tone does not have the iridescence collectors want.
In other words, for me, either the toning is only on one face or it is fabricated. HOWEVER that does not detract from the beauty of these coins. I just think we have to know what we have and admire

All I did was provide a link to an older thread on this site. Google is your friend, try doing some research on the topic, if you are intending to purchase toned coins. I've seen many, many toned coins, and I definitely do not believe that coin toned that way naturally. Looks like extreme heat did that.
I am VERY surprised that it made it into an ICCS holder.

I have very high regard for ICCS.
But I do believe they will holder a coin eventhough they have a very strong suspicion the coin's colour has been altered.

IMHO artificial toning all the way and plus 50 per cent over is too much! You can buy nice raw EIIR dollars for 98- 110 of spot all over the place. Surprised ICCS missed the AT on this coin.

would AT not leave trace evidence , such as hairlines , or other type of surface damage ? I'm no pro but after 30+ years collecting I can usually spot a surface with marks...This coin has ZERO imperfections in the fields ..The coin is perfectly flawless..... Unless there is a method to tone without causing damage then I will stick to this is Natural all the way.......

Toning, artificial or otherwise, does not physically mark the surface of a coin. Toning is a function of the environment a surface (in this case silver) is exposed to, and that environment includes humidity and other elements, like sulphur. Artificially toning can actually be done with exposure to various gases.
