I already have Glenn...I would ask all ebay sellers to check their sales for this buyer.Its an easy thing and if you sold to him maybe let him in on the COST of not paying attention |

F12 or F15 in my opinion. The price isn't unreasonable for this key date in this condition.
Trends at $2k in VG8, $3k in F12, $5k in VF20

pokerman..full trend for F12 would be ok I guess if it was graded as such..but 4 g's way over graded this guy is getting snaffoed.... And I would highly doubt ICCS or CCCS would go any higher than VG 10 if on a good day...

The 1890H 50 cent really is THE key date of Canadian half dollars. Other than the virtually unattainable 1921. The "trends" price isn't the be-all-end-all for coin pricing. Especially on a coin that is sufficiently scarce that it isn't readily available for purchase. This 1890H is currently the only one for sale on ebay. And a recent search of completed auctions shows only two others (both uncertified, one very worn) that have been available in the past two weeks. |

Final price on this one of just under $4600. One other bidder was willing to pay quite a high amount as well.
Moral of the story- a price guide is just that, a guide.

artdio, this should really show you that a good amount of collectors don't care about coins at all. It's all about having greener grass... It could be cars, stamps, bottle collections, some just choose coins.

Fredor maybe I'm old but I have no idea what you mean.. I have been collecting a long long time and have quite the collection as Glenzy would know.. but I'm lost as to what you are saying

Some people really couldn't care less about what they are collecting as long as they can appear to have something that is better than what others have. I wouldn't doubt that this coin goes into someone's registry set at PCGS where it is simply a number in someone's collection.

ok got it... Well it will be interesting to see what PCGS grades mine at if I can somehow get it to them..And I will be sure to call them on this ones number for sure ...Then it will go to ICCS for cross grade as an experiment to see what they say...

Regardless my opinion about the coin, or its real grade, remember: you are looking at a low resolution picture of a slabbed coin. PCGS holders are not as translucent as NGC or CCCS.

true but it is not hard to tell that the coin was nowhere near a VF 35. Even through plastic
