the thread began with the discussion of the price of a particular ebay auction. The sellers told me it was a listing error. Perhaps they wanted $80? They told me they were going to fix it.

A listing error? Funny how it exactly matches the green sticker on the slab that says "800"...

I was going to email them but as barryg pointed out the sticker on the back said 800 so I figured that was really the price they were asking.

There is not a single coin or set of coins that are sold by nay of the shopping networks on TV that is not grossly overpriced. With the exception of slabbed coins virtually all of the coins sold on TV have been cleaned and / or polished. There is no good deal on coins on TV. Ed ANA LM-3175

That's a shame. Well, I inquired about the issue with the PNG. If I find out anything, I'll let you know.

Sounds good. That is too bad, I was hoping it would change after you brought it up to their attention.

Quote: I just received the below info from the seller cc99999, so did the seller tell you the price was a listing error and he was going to fix it or not? I am lost with your responses you made. The first one said he said it was a typo and then the second response you made said it was about something else? was it about the price or what was it about that you contacted the seller about?

this screen shot is the extent of my interaction with them. I contacted PNG to lodge a complaint because the discrepancy in responses to me and tomtom777, led me to believe they are in violation of PNG's bylaws.

That's too bad they just flat out lied to us, giving the two different answers.

I have purchased coins from one of the shows on several occasions and they are just fine. Not to mention I am really unsure as to how one cleans a mint set while still in the packaging... Regardless of that, it will be interesting to see how this works out.

Ah, the 1959 proof Franklin.
I just got a call back from the PNG, who contacted the seller Kedzie Koins. Kedzie stands by their price as it stands saying that the coin has cameo "tendencies" which aren't visible in the scan of the coin. They say that the coin is priced fairly as 1959 cameos sell for significant amounts of money. They do not state any of this in their their item description but they do offer a 14 day money back return policy.
So there you have it. A sloppy listing. A little bit of wishful thinking based on the scan. And an inconsistent message to two different customers. Happy bidding.

Thank you for keeping up on this and getting back to us cc99999. They should have mentioned that in the ad and I would have understood the price a little better however I still think it is a bit high for the amount of cameo it may have. Hopefully they will be better about communication both in email and their auctions in the future.

So even if we say that NGC got it wrong and it is cameo its still listed for about double the numismedia listing price.
