This is the only one I have ever seen, doubled stamped.

SPP-Ottawa, Roman seems to find all the nice pieces (very sharp eye) Congrats on that coin I'am sure you won't see another double stamped
Great addition to your dollars. Will PCGS recognize this coin for your registry set?

One for sale now, recently certified as it has the Charlton number obverse on the flip.

What I like about this is that I can see them being found in some dealers' junk boxes, perhaps. I'll need to start looking.

I picked one up recently from the Boucherville coin show, and it was counterstruck on a 1970 nickel specimen dollar...

ONE Question here, perhaps NOT directly related, but it just begs to be asked:

Why would ICCS recognize and certify this counter stamped coin, which is obviously NOT a mint issue, considering they will not recognize and certify well known and documented and very obvious varieties?

They also certify 'JOP' counterstamped dollars...

I don't know the answer to your question, why not phone up ICCS and ask them?

SPP, yes I know. But these go back before ICCS times and actually were around and known when ICCS started.
Someone must have had a ton or more very strong persuasion reasons for Brian to agree.

Example: 1864 NB 20 cent. clearly 2 different coins. Nobody at Charlton or ICCS actually does care 1 Iota.
So, why this one? Am sure there are a lot of member who read this asking themselves a similar question. Maybe I am wrong, but it seems a bit odd for ICCS just to do it. Think about it. Was it perhaps political?

Are you kidding me? What possible political motives would ICCS have?

Both ICCS and CCCS certify this 1970 dollar. They both certified this dollar before it even was assigned a Charlton Number in the 67th Edition of the Charlton Catalogue. ICCS certified a GAN dollar for me back in 2007 and CCCS certified a GAN dollar in a hard slab for me back in 2011.

This counterstamp has been around since 1970 and was well known enough to ICCS, that they did not hesitate to certify my first one.

Let's keep this thread to the coin in the original post - take your ICCS issues and rants to another thread...

After SPP's rather interesting and strong reply, I want to clarify my "political" suggestion to that is what I really meant.
In short, there was simple question(indicated here in other than the original words): Why one and not the other which is much older and known for a long time? That is perhaps where the "numismatically political" corrected suggestion comes into play.

I also would like to clarify that there was absolutely NO rant, direct or indirect, of any type or kind by myself against ICCS or anyone else!

It is an interesting article, but not the kind of thing I personally would want. I just see it as a coin with PMD. I have a set of die punches. Maybe I should get 1000 coins, punch them and throw them into circulation. Maybe they will be worth more in 40 years

Did someone here win the GAN dollar in the Colonial Acres auction that just ended?

What would stop Anyone from doing their own modern counter stamp? Legal issues? Regardless, I think it's awesome.

I did not bid on that one... I don't like when the stamp cuts the chin...
