So does anyone know when is the next release date for RCM?

Based on previous years, the first release of coins in 2013 should be available beginning the first week or so of January.

Does anybody know when the products arrive in the Mint Boutiques? Do they come earlier or the day the Mint puts them up on their webstore?

The boutiques don't get coins early.

I looked at the new release book at the post office today. the 2013 proof set is the pricy $229 one with NO penny. same as the specimen, uncirculated, etc.
I believe it said they can order on jan 7th and Put them out on the 15th.... roughly.

It looked very odd with no penny in it....

Wow...$229 without the penny....I just bought the 2012 silver proof set after holding out a year. After getting the 5 penny set and the silver 1/2 oz penny, I thought I might as well go for broke and get the regular silver penny too! (or go broke...more like it!!)

Without the penny, that in 2012 was valued around $70 or so as a stand alone coin, it really makes the 2013 set seem overpriced!! Hope the commemorative silver dollar looks nice!!

do they come out a proof set each year?

doesn't this makes the 2012 proof set more attractive as it has the Penny?

Since 1997, they typically come out with one eight coin proof set a year.

In 2012, they came out with two sets: One composed of pure silver with selective gold plating($225), and one composed of solid alloys (nickel, brass, copper)($100).

It looks like they are continuing the two proof set issues for 2013 except now without the cent.

The 2012 fine silver proof set was arguably worth $225 because of the pink penny. Without that special penny, the 2013 set will not be worth anywhere near that much.

Even with the special penny, you can buy the 2012 set this week from a dealer on-line for just over $200. The RCM is complete out of touch if they think they can charge $229 for a decidedly non-special proof set.

Coin chick, don't you mean the fourth GO7 coin. The first three have already been released if I'm not mistaken.

I agree with this. But they might promote it as "First set without the Penny."

Thats all I can find, I bet the Mint is going to find another event to make coins out of. I really hope its something good.

With 2013 being a rather slow year and no Olympics, I will venture a guess to say that the RCM may do something for the 2013 World Baseball Classic. Canada participates and they could generate a series of coins from this.

I am very disappointed in the pricing on the proof set, and I think the fact that the Loon and Toon coins are of the "old style" is telling. These new "secure" steel slugs are an insult to the hobby, the medium, and our country.
