Quote: What happened with steve? Why he was banned Ahh, I think Admin's post above yours was pretty clear. We've had to clean up/change/delete his posts at a minimum of five times for blatant rules violations. All of these instances resulted in a friendly warning to "change" or he would no longer be allowed here. After the FIFTH time, it was the end. End of story, end of discussion.

Quote: Future mentions of this will result in posts posts being immediately removed. At risk of being censured, I feel I must comment on this. tights24 I appreciate your friendly explanation, and while I may have a problem with it, I can understand the decisions as you have laid them out. What I have a problem with is the dictatorial diatribe which says even any discussion of this matter is subject to censure. While steve6x may deserve being booted in the eyes of "Admin", it doesn't mean everyone has to agree, or that any discussion should be treated as against the rules of the site. I have truly enjoyed CCF and the Ancient's forum in particular. Everyone who posts here feels like lifelong friends. When one of our fellow members gets booted off the site, it is only natural curiosity to want to know why. Perhaps there is a good reason which tights24 was kind enough to explain. But the autocratic and crude response of Admin makes me feel like CCF may not be for me in the future. I will have to weigh the overall good of this site as compared to this absolute control of any discussion, including discussion that don't break any rules.

This forum is an autocratic dictatorship, and is not a democracy. If someone doesn't follow the rules then they get warned/banned it says it in the rules. There is no vote, at least from the populous, and there probably shouldn't be. It's some dude's privet site and if he wants to boot someone or censor something I am sure he can, weather or not you or I or anyone else likes it. The next smack down...failed democracies....or tyrants hahahah. Jokes Jokes...

I understand this about the site, and I agree they should have the power to ban someone for breaking the rules. But to ban a discussion of that matter is something all together different in my mind.

Not to trying to add fuel to the fire but the thing is that discussions on moderator actions are banned from discussion on most forums because they often get out of hand. Ending up in arguments, hard feelings and even trolls jumping into it just to cause trouble. I can see why they do it but it is often unfair, but needs to be done a lot of times.

I suppose I can see the sense in that. I'm just too old fashioned I guess. I believe in an open honest discussion. How else should we all be aware of what is expected or what is banned other than the printed rules which, by their very nature, are specifically vague. It would seem to me that all members need to be made aware of whatever another member does to be censured/banned, or we are doomed to repeat it.
Thanks Gil, Anoob and tights24 for your explanations.

Hello Bing et al, healthy discussion here. I will answer you with one comment that may help you understand a bit better. In regards to this comment: Quote: It would seem to me that all members need to be made aware of whatever another member does to be censured/banned, or we are doomed to repeat it. In a word, "No". The reason is clear if you would have completely interpreted my first post or Admin's. Five times at a minimum he was warned by various staff members. That's the part folks are missing. If you do something that breaks our rules, we will remove it and leave you with a note of some kind either in your post or privately. If you do it a second time we will again help you with understanding the rules. A third time, we start to get a little irked. Usually by this point you will have had a small vacation. 5 times. let that sink in. That's why there is no discussion on why and what exactly he did. The simple fact that he did it 5 times after be warned on the first time should be enough for EVERYONE to understand and just drop it.

tights24: I think possibly you misunderstood my comments. I was thanking you for your explanation, but was rather upset with the curt way in which "Admin" made it's declaration "Future mentions of this will result in posts posts being immediately removed"
While I acknowledge the authority, I would just expect a little courtesy in return. A simple explanation such as your original post suffices.

You're right. This thread kinda got high jacked. The x6 coin is a real beauty isn't it. Like I said, I would love to have it in my collection. This is typical for x6. He comes up with some of the nicest coins and makes me jealous.

Yeah...the detail on the portrait is fantastic! It's also easy to imagine the tools used to engrave the dies.
