Tim - I havent started yet, but I definitely will now. Ill start sourcing coins tomorrow and hopefully start listing here soon for preordering. Ill put up a post in the trade section of the forum - in US$ it would be $14 plus shipping (would have to calculate that).

You can give it a try, if they are decent coins I'd buy some.

Erkle, its a few quid (more if you have several lots)
My issue here is I have the option to get 79 uncleaned smaller coins including barbs but I'm not very happy with the quality - should I get them anyway and mix them in? Theres some nice coins in there too.

Okay, once I've confirmed a source for a lot ill list them on the trade forum for pre-order. I'm having to borrow a paypal as I dont have an account and the terms are that if I can bring in 150% cash that went out then they agree on the business premise and I can order in a larger quantity. Ill be starting with probably 4 lots of 10 on this forum for the time being but if it goes well ill buy up some other lots (I missed a good source recently)

Sounds interesting, thanks for thinking of us!
Can I ask, what type of coins are we talking about? Have any sample photos?

When I've sourced a lot ill get some sample photos (could take a while for any lots to arrive). The coins I have my eye on (theres over 50, but I'm buying the lot for a particular coin I've been looking for, which, while not rare, hasnt come up in any of my lots) are pretty good condition and I reckon I could sell them quite well. Wish me luck getting them.

You could also get a metal detector and get a lot of your own too. That would cut the costs and make it cheaper for everyone.

If I lived in Europe or in the UK, I definitely would get one.

Gil, I live pretty far from any known roman sites (well, theres a supposed one in my town and a few people have found broaches and stuff on common land here, but no real finds). I wouldnt have a place to find large enough smounts to sell them (and UK dug coins are notoriously degraded)

Oh well, that sucks. Just an idea though.
