Reasonably crisp on the King's beard.
This is the first place I go looking for wear on Mackennal busts, for all British Commonweath coins.
Australia used this bust on bronze and silver coins 1911-36.

Great photo's for grading. I'm still on my learning curve but some observations. The reverse is a beauty I can see the peripheral halo you mentioned and that has great eye appeal. Obviously with gold being as soft as it is you would expect them to have more contact marks but I don't think it will make a 63. Conversely with golds softness I would have expected a stronger strike. Having said all that I'd gladly have a VG nice coin

MS 62. I really like the majestic look of these coins..Just a sober thought, when/if Prince Charles becomes King, are the coins made with him on them going to demand the same type of interest?

Thanks for sharing

A typical MS-62 (ICCS/CCCS). PCGS/NGC might grade it MS-63 or better, if they are still doing that with these BoC hoard coins.

Beauty! Very nice luster. I'd put it at MS-63 just based on luster but bag marks may bro it up or down a grade. Wish I owned a piece like this.

no, same hoard, just differing terminology....do a search on the Heritage auction site, and they will be more PCGS gold coins from the hoard.
