It's threads like these (and all others) that I like to capture and post the image while it is still available instead of a hyperlink. It might take a little extra time, but it is so worth it, IMO.

I think the images should be viewable now. I also included close-up images of the coin. Sorry about that.

Wow that is gorgeous! Looks to be a end of the roll because the back has little toning? Or can that be caused by something else?

Here's another equally impressive toned Morgan, although not as beautiful, IMO.

Just a thought . . . I try to read most of the threads on toned coins and many of the experts seem to say that the color progression follows the colors of the rainbow. I use the name ROY G BIV to remember red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. I know this is a slabbed coin but the colors don't match up with what I've read. What goes?

Quote: slabbed coin but the colors don't match up Which coin are you talking about? If you look at the coin from the original post, I think you could find the color scheme in there. If you start from the bottom (at the date) and work your way up, you can just about find them there. What do you think?

Quote: I wonder why I can't seem to find it on PCGS Cert Verification That's a good question...this is the first certified coin that I've looked up and haven't had it come back with results. Interesting...

To me that toning looks artificially applied. I wonder if anyone is doing vapor deposition coating, like the procedure for producing dichroic glass or coated topaz/gemstones?
Cert not verifiable? Seems like a red flag.

Quote: I wonder why I can't seem to find it on PCGS Cert Verification This happens on occasion, not being able to view certain certification numbers. There is an option when coins are submitted that the owner chooses not to include them in the public viewing pool. This just in...this coin is also illustrated as "The Moose" (Banded Rainbow Toned); http://www.jhonecash.com/coins/coin...ert=07066172Seems like somebody is trying the " borrow someone elses images" tactic again. The images have the same properties (pixel size).

Yes, that is where I obtained the images. Apparently, most of the toned Morgans on that site have been sold. I thought it was an interesting read, even with all the extra "scientific" analysis.

To anyone that thinks that type of toning is fake or easily applied really needs to prove it by showing us how its done. I have yet to see someone fake the 'pullaway' toning convincingly, and these coins do have that in spades. Morgans have come straight out of bags like that with the monster toning, just look for the old Wayne Miller Morgan and Peace dollar Textbook; he has lots of nice examples photographed in that book.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Just one question, Why does it look like there is a nick on the neck on both coins in the same place?
