The seller had more non-coin items than coins. Another giveaway. You are correct, jack, he DID beat around the bush. I can only imagine what low price he paid to acquire it. Ah, well, I could have answered other posts but I remained in the background today, so far!
Back in the earlier days of the Internet, it was said that people could hide their true intentions. Or hide under false pretenses. Perhaps true, but WORDS betray.
It snags them every time!

I took a shot at attributing it with the help of earlydollars.org and came up with BB-158, B-16. Don't know if it is right. It may just be nothing but something just feels slightly off to me.

No, you're right, BB-158. Now I can see the die clash above the date. This could be cleaned/dipped/whizzed within an inch of its life and I wouldn't know; I'm no good at appraising that. But even if it is, it's a great early dollar. Guess there's no law against owning or selling one just because you misspell the word "consideration." Twice.

Your argument, sir? Counterfeit examples of BB-158 have been reported, and it would be neat if we could confirm this as one of them, with just these pics.

The 1970s die-transfer fakes of BB-158 (which aren't from China) are reported to have a notch in the R in LIBERTY, not evident here. Sounds like we need Steve Caruso!

I'd like to point out that he has 100% positive feedback with over 4000 sales.

Quote: I'd like to point out that he has 100% positive feedback with over 4000 sales he could just be making an honest mistake or he was talked into trying to snag $6,000 using his reputation and if it is counterfeited he can always say "I'm no coin collector or dealer, I don't know" interesting for a person with over 4,000 sales and a 100% FB on the bay, I would give them the benefit of the doubt that it was not an item listed with malfeasance other people in this hobby do much worse than make honest mistakes, they execute intentional moves

I have to believe that being a seller for the last 14 years with 100 percent feedback, and not being a coin specialist, that this is an honest auction.
I once bought a box of "no feet" Pez dispensers for $20. I knew NOTHING about them other than there was a market. I was later told by the "serious" dealers that I had gotten less than 20% of retail. Yet; I was quite happy with my $800 profit.
Flip this around. Say the Seller bought his coins in a lot from an estate for a quick turn around; because he was told early dollars sell well.
And now after listing and relisting....and no one is buying....he probably thinks coins are worthless and he paid too much.
