That is a nice coin, but the obverse doesn't seem to match the reverse. The 'v' split shown in the second pic isn't apparent in the first picture? Is this something you are looking to purchase?

MetDet is right - that chip seems to be gone in one of the pictures.

Not only the chip. Measuring by the 'finger' shown in photo one is wider than finger and one is less. Two different coins is the only possibility.

Hadn't noticed that but now the you mentioned it I see that they do appear to be two different coins.

Metdet - I've sent you a couple of emails before - perhaps I cant message you. You're 2 posts away from being able to send/receive - take a look at the other forums and get those couple in and you wont have to break any rules.

And ooooooh - getting lots of cool stuff through the door recently and I've still got one outstanding parcel I hope to receive within the next week. I'm going to have to move my collection to a bigger box soon.

BenByfield - me and a few mates started to do a rough count the other day, we got to roughly 7 thousand coins before we got bog eyed, that is less than a tenth of what I have stuffed in a drawer waiting to be cleaned. I am always willing to swap material that I dig up for knowledge

Holy sweet mother of mary!

70,000?!?! I thought only the huge corporations got to those levels!

Thats...thats utterly ridiculous! You must have found some pretty cool stuff in that lot. I've found some cool stuff in 300 coins - imagine the kind of stuff you've got stashed away.

EDIT: You found that? Thats a coin worthy of its own post - looks pretty fancy to me. Ill take a looksy and try and pin it down for you.

Hey hey - 50 posts!

Its Vespasian - possibly Titus? I'm not knowledgable on that area - my Vespasian is...uhh...a lowball, I suppose you'd call it.

MetDet71. my first impression was Vespasian but upon closer look I believe it's Titus with a reverse legend.

The obverse in the original coin of this tread is missing a lot of letters, but those still there seem compatible with MAXIMIANVS. The legend ends CEB for "Augustus," as usual. The date on the reverse, Lgamma, would be year 3.
It is late 3rd century.
