LOL I think that is more an effect of the lighting than anything else. The detail on this coin is amazing. I highly suggest getting it. It looks fantastic in hand.

Ive got the special label PCGS on my watch list or at least one of them. PCGS is brutally slow right now for some reason so they seem to be few and far between at the moment. I'm hoping to be able to wait a little and get a better feel for how many are making the cut, as the last few have gone down in price in a bit from the first listings. Sometimes waiting pays off sometimes it doesn't, if I see the prices start to climb ill jump in though

Nice!! Imagine if it was the gold coin!! I once ordered a proof presidential set for like $14 and they sent me a roll of Cleveland dollars $25.

If it had been the gold McArthur, I would have likely fainted. LOL

That was really nice of the mint to send you something that is worth more than what you ordered. I have never been that lucky. But I would guess that if they sent a gold coin by mistake, they would probably ask for it back. Can they?

Yes they can ask for it back, and if you don't send it, well they have your credit card number. Yes I know you could then do a charge back but don't count on ever being able to buy anything else from the mint. (A mix up sending you the wrong item does not count as "unsolicited merchandise" under the law that says you don't have to pay for something you didn't order. The law requires you to return it, but NOT at your expense. If they want it back they have to pay for the shipping.)

Well based on his shipping receipt.. which did not indicate he got the General Proof... I am guessing they wouldn't in this case.

oih82w8 I was thinking the same thing. If it was me I'd be on the phone complaining looking for my product and letting them figure out where their mistake was.
smokeriderdon I would have liked to have this happen to me. Then I would have been put in the position of whether morally I should tell the mint or not. I most probably have looked at like (like you) as a gift from the mint and mentally thanked them. I'm really jealous that it happened to you and not me.
I wonder what the mint's response would be if I called and told them that they had sent me the gold proof rather than the silver proof? Do you think that I'd get a reward or another bill from them?
I'd be interesting to hear their response to that point.

The odds of them all of a sudden realizing, "hey we sent this guy the wrong thing" are pretty slim I would think.
As for "morally", I have zero qualms. I have sent wrong stuff out before and had to eat it. My screw up, my loss. Never expected or asked the customer to send it back or pay the difference.
Besides, they are going to make MORE money off of me as I will be getting the other 3 coins that I can afford that I likely would not have purchased had they not sent me this one. And if I can swing it, I will get that gold proof MacArthur darn it! LOL

I was wondering if you were going to call and say you got something extra
but if you were short on a order would you still call
my morals is ..if I see someone drop money on the ground I would say something but if I didn't see them drop it ... its fair game unless its a good amount of when, where and how

Is it just me, or does Gen Marshall have Homer Simpson's mouth?
