What makes this coin special compared to other coins being issued in this series and prior? What is the appeal?

IMO the material bronze has not the same attraction as gold or silver.... Also I think 35$ for this is too much. But it wouldn't be the first time I'm wrong This might be wishful thinking but I need to get down with ordering new series or sets. My credit card is on fire since months..... Glad that the other North American mint is not as creative!

I am thinking there is tax on the bronze coins, I cant read french but all the silver coins have a red dot with tax free? in french ? written inside it. But the bronze and the other non silver/gold coins have no red dots etc. Quote:CanadianCoins1999 Valued Member Canada 187 Posts Posted 05/24/2013 6:55 pm Here are my pics reserved some for myself at CP http://www.flickr.com/photos/951816.../8818820710/

It will be taxable since it is not .999 silver. 99.5 gold or .995 platinum.

The coins that are not exempt simply don't have the tax exempt red dot. The dot says "Aucune TPS NI TVH". No GST or HST.
The bronze and niobium coins are taxable.

Well that's going to add to the cost a bit...oh well, I wonder how many you will be allowed to buy? Maybe no limit on them, that would be nice, I want atleast 10.

CC-Ottawa is correct. My dealer sheets have both the Bronze and Niobium coins listed as taxable. Whats shocking is: The Niobium coins are 99.99% Pure silver this time around and are still taxable because they have niobium. This is like saying "Lets tax the Glass Bug coins, they have glass on top of the 99.99% silver" <facepalm> Per my spec sheet:

I can one up that :)
I once ordered some tubes of 25 silver maples as well as some empty plastic coin tubes (gold maple size) from a company in the USA. When I received my order, the silver maples were in their tubes. But in place of the extra plastic coin tubes was a small bag containing some loonies. They weren't able to ship the empty tubes to me because of some kind of customs thing where they couldn't guarantee the composition of the plastic.
I asked what if I had ordered a full tube of gold maples? They said they'd have shipped it with the tube. But the empty tubes they weren't allowed to..

The Venetian Glass pieces have a pure silver "coin" with something attached to its surface (i.e., the glass insect is not part of the coin's physical planchet). My understanding of the RCM's niobium coins is that the outer ring of each coin is 99.99% silver but that the inner core is both silver and niobium with enough niobium in the mix to lower the coin's overall silver purity to below 99.99%.

Same thing happened to crown royal. It used to come in a purple velvet bag - very attractive. The government got into the mix and said "that's no longer only a bottle of booze" and slapped a tax on the crown royal - with the bag... that is why we don't get that bag except at Christmas in special 'gift boxes'. In my opinion, any coin with extra bling attached to it, is no longer truly "bullion" silver/gold, and should be taxed as "art" - Even adding colour to a coin is questionable.

I just saw these on ebay, I totally want the set of three. How much is the gold version, and how big is it? I guess the silver one is an ounce, at $99.99?
