Thank you Kug_85. The Royal Infant with Toys coin is the only one that would interest me even without the dragon. This being a historical event, odds are the child will be a ruler someday I can't help but think that the coin should be more impressive. It should be at least an ounce and piedfort would have been nice. They could have done edge lettering to record the date of birth. Just a few thoughts and I'm not even a Royal watcher.

I suggest to count the RCM "Baby Royal Birth" set / coins as just nice "Baby set". Actually, the coins done well, priced not bad (just the case is average). Do you have many "baby" themed coins in the collection? IMO - good item among "animal", "art" and "history events" series.

At the risk of being accused of being too "soft" on the RCM again , I think their new "Royal Birth" coins are tasteful and attractive. I do agree with others, however, that the three-piece set is "generic" in regards to the new Prince - the single $5 coin is less so as it at least references his parents. None match my collecting interests, however, so I will be passing on all of them. I did, however, pick up one of The Royal Mint's "Silver Sovereigns." Not because of the Prince, but because I like the classic "George and the Dragon" design and anticipate a silver proof version being a very attractive coin.

I called in and ordered today and was told the ship date was pushed back to when it is because they were originally not going to include the babys name, but the decision has been made to include the baby's name on the packaging, a last minute decision, FYI for those complaining there is no reference to the royal baby's name, there is now on the packaging.

Still no go for me. Having the name on sleeve/box makes no difference to me if the name io not on the coin. I think most coin collectors are like me; we collect coins, not sleeves. Plus sleeves get damaged and lost.

Anyway, too much release this year, I lose lots of interest in collecting this year... I don't have the anticipation like quarter release, each month I have to look at all those coins and make choice, and so far so good, seems that I rather not choose coins because I pass to make sure not missing something more "hot" for the next month release and it's the same month over month... I do not have 500$ each month to spend on coins however, for the first time in 5 years, I expect to spend less money even with monthly release!

Agree! Having the name and date of birth on a nicely designed wooden box would be "barely acceptable"... having it on the cardboard packaging is still lame! There was the royal infant birth mention on it anyway. Sure it's better with the name and details, but still far from being good for a commemorative coin. I wrote a review on mint.ca about it. I really like the coins design, it's probably the best baby set ever, but it's no commemoration! And this is disappointing!

I was thinking this must be some popular baby, the thread is already 8 pages long ... then I noticed it was necro'd from almost two years ago lol. OT - Didn't buy the ones for George and won't be buying any the RCM may put out for the, as yet, unnamed princess.
