coin shoppe retail has the set for 549.......world ancient at 610 and still bidding on ebay....i think it will be quite popular among the British set....im not a huge fan of colorized coins ...im in it partly for the resell..i think it will hit 1000.00 no problem.....Dr Who is pretty big as cult status and the latest BBC productions have really stepped it up to attract the younger audience so this will be a big xmas gift item as well....for the kid that has everything.....

Dr Who is nowhere close to the S Man in popularity..even the coin release is complicated..with Superman you know who the guy is and what he looks like ...where he came from etc ..very simple..with Dr Who youve got 11 guys all related with complicated lives and mysterious stories....too many choices..trust the Brits to make everything complicated..and I'm a Brit so no offense ....im hesitating on the set but the coin shoppe deal looks like the best.... so far....

just put in order for a set of the complicated Dr Who 12 piece coinset.....ill probably get another to resell ....its already being offered at 900.00 in some places like ebay..got mine from Canadian dealer Coin Shoppe..free shipping + 594.00 presale special...and they take PayPal......I love Dr Who but I'm not a fanatic...i like the tenth dr. played by David Tennant and the 9th was pretty good..the recent Dr. 11 I like but I like the girl even more!

I decided to go for the Dr Who Gold and took the plunge......its gonna sellout pretty quickly so if want it at cost nows the time........meanwhile the Silver set has been delayed at Coinshoppe so it wont be until december before I get it.....There seems to be a lot of interest in the Gold and the silver coins with a bunch of ebay listings in silver particularily..The silver coin singles are fetching high prices already.......Low mintage for all these coins which is a definite plus...

checking the Dr Who coin 50th anniversary sales on ebay I notice that the prices seem to be pretty steady in the 125-200 range..The gold coin has 2 listings .....at 2400 us dollar which is a better deal than the NZ mint price of 2524 USD...i guess the fact that bullion is only 1200 these days is keeping this low mintage of 250 coins still available at mint.....im sure the dealers are a bit surprised at the lack of response but when the mintage does sellout that will change the picture considerably...but thats anyones guess...im still glad I bought the gold coin and as a work of Art and scarcity it will eventually rise in price .....but for now it would seem the gold is a slow mover..... for the serious collector only....who is a real fan of the Dr Who series ........

I first got an email from the New Zealand Mint announcing this set, then the Perth Mint a little later. The description says struck by the Perth Mint for the New Zealand Mint. These are Niue issues, which is more often a New Zealand strike. Are both mnts striking the coins, and if so are both min marks being used?

so far I've passed on the 11 coin set but I got the gold coin which is still available through NZ mint....There are 3 new colorized coins issued last month or so but I'm not interested although the market seems pretty buoyant......I think the gold coin is the best deal of the lot and when it sells out it will increase in value big time....

Yes, the gold Dr Who coin will be a winner, small mintage,, tho I dont think the small mintage helps this coin. What helps this coin is the iconic series and populairty of Dr Who,,, and this coin is unique in that respect.

If you can afford a gold coin, this is one you buy.

I did get the Dr Who Monster coins, I like em! Then again I am a Dr Who fan lol. The only thing I dont like is their are half ounce,, but they, you cant go wrong with Dr Who baddies can you? lol

The Tardis cased silver Dr Who coin is doing well on ebay these days...prices are definitely up over the past month or so..ranging in the high 170 plus range consistantly..There is also an NGC PF 70 offered at 1000.00 with a note saying NGC have only 5 of these graded at PF 70..Personally I thinks thats an extremely provocative price but I will probably consider getting one of mine graded by NGC or PCGS ..i think a more realistic price would be in the 300.00 range for this coin in PF 70
