Does Anyone Collect Australian Lunar Series?

wasnt their a guy on youtube who did a unboxing video of this type series and said on on the video he had maxed his credit card to get a kilo set from APMEX but that he wasnt worried because silver was going to go higher....

I first saw the video here but it was taken down quickly which was good because his address was visible :/

All of the Lunar Series 2 KILO's....I think Big!

Will a complete set be worth more when time to sell? with other words, is it worth going back and paying the big Premiums ?

I don't know but if you look at individual coins at these silver prices I can only say that in the future you are looking at higher silver prices anyway... so can't go wrong in my opinion.

What's your thoughts on the slab MS70 , 3 coin proof sets or other sets that's come in a very low mintage, are the worth having?

I don't invest in MS70's or proof sets... just stick to what I like. :)

Is it worth grading and slab a few ?
I don't think so, It would be very hard to duplicate... especially the Kilo's.

You're missing out on a lot of potentially good auction opportunities by going with the "free ship only" option. It makes more sense to set a price you want to pay and then minus the shipping to get your new total expenditure.

I have the complete set of 25mm Australian Dollar coins from 1984 to date.
The lunar series coins in the 25mm size come out in ali/bronze and silver.
The Lunar series coins started in 2007 and have had an issue every year since.

Sometimes, you can use high shipping costs to your advantage if the seller has many items you're interested in up for auction. Find out in advance what they charge to ship each additional coin after the initial win. I've found many people charge very little beyond the first. $1 S&H for each addition coin is very common. Win six auctions from the same seller over a few days and instead of paying $6 each for S&H, it's now only costing you an average of $2 per coin. For every coin you win, the average shipping cost falls that much lower. With that in mind, you'll end up winning far more auction from this type of seller for less than other buyers you're competing against and your costs per coin over the long run will be considerably lowered.

I have moved away from collecting Canadian coins and am now heavily into Lunars. I collect the silver coins and just bought the key coin in the series......the 2008 5oz Mouse/Rat....and the 2 oz version...I also got the 2009 10 oz silver bullion issue. I do not buy such coins off e-bay as the mark up is too high but got these at very compeititve prices. I have also led to the Perth Mint to consider destroying their old dies in order to ensure confidence in the collector community to preclude the striking of additional coins. However, they assure me the declared numbers cannot be added to once declared. Great to own and an excellent invertment for the long term in my view.

Be very careful with slabbed 70 coins.
Since 2010, many of the popular series have been falling victim of tarnish after a year or two, here are some examples that I have personally seen/bought:
- 2012 Perth Mint Lunar Dragon 1oz in PCGS MS 70 FS slabs, sold by APMEX
- 2014 China Panda 1oz in NGC MS70 ER slabs, sold by private eBayer.

I am not sure if it's the storage problem or the slab problem. It seemed like these 'ring of tanish' happened AFTER the coin was slabbed.

Regarding potential, rate of return, base on $$ putting in (from highest to lowest), assuming you are getting it at the ground floor when the coins are first release (around Oct/Nov of each year): 1/2 oz, 2oz, 1oz, 5oz.
Note: Proof coins and Proof sets already had built in premium.

Within each series, there are also more popular coins/designs than other (Dragon is always popular in Asian culture).
